Hello, everybody!!

This is Cheng, coming to you once again LIVE from Toa Payoh Sports Hall, where we’re awaiting the tip-off of the National ‘B’ Division Girls’ Basketball Final in just under 15 minutes.  Leslie is THE main man today, shooting highlights of the game, as well as filming for an upcoming episode of RedSportsTV.

We are attempting a new feat today:  we’ll be bringing you a live report of the game as it happens, and we’ll be trying to bring you the pictures live during the update as well.

I know … we are just as excited as you are over there at your office desk, home or the school’s canteen.

LIVE REPORT

Quarter 1
14:00h – Game has tipped off punctually.
14:02h – RGS’s Cheryl Ng (#9) draws an early shooting foul but converts only one.  Score: 1-0.
14:04h – AND’s Tan Seow Hwee (#8) gets four easy points under the basket.  1-4.
14:05h – RGS take over the lead 6-4 with a basket and a three-point play.
14:06h – AND call for a time-out.
14:07h – RGS come back with a full-court press defence.
14:09h – AND’s Seow Hwee rejects a basket by RGS’s Jamie Chow (#8). 
14:10h – AND’s Stephanie Teo (#10) scores the first three-pointer of the game.  Anderson supporters go wild.  Score: 8-10.
14:13h – RGS find many of their fast-break attempts being foiled by AND.  RGS miss 4 consecutive free-throw attempts.
14:17h – AND’s Seow Hwee continues to foil RGS’s fast-break attempts, intercepting passes at mid-court.  RGS miss crucial baskets.
14:18h – End of quarter 1:  9-13.

Quarter 2
14:20h – AND play tough defence in the paint, frustrating RGS’s attempts to score under the basket.
14:22h – RGS’s Liew Si Hui (#4) attempts a three-point shot, but misses.
14:23h – RGS seem to find difficulty completing their drives to the basket, and scoring even field-goals.
14:23h – RGS’s Si Hui makes an open drive to the basket, but misses the easy lay-up.  Score:  9-13.
14:24h – Both teams remain scoreless so far in the second quarter.
14:25h – RGS’s Joelynn Ng (#7) scores the first points for the quarter when she intercepts a AND play at mid-court and goes for an easy unguarded lay-up.  Score:  11-13.
14:26h – RGS level the score 13-13 with another basket.
14:26h – AND’s Tania Cher Ting (#12) makes a basket and draws a foul but fails to convert the free-throw.  Score: 13-15.
14:28h – RGS play half-court press defence tactic, and successfully cut the passing lane.  Tan Yen Lin (#15) tries for a fast-break, but throws the ball out of bounds instead. 
14:30h – AND score six consecutive points and pull ahead to a 8-point lead.  RGS continue scoring drought with the ball bouncing out of the rim.  Score: 13-21.
14:31h – AND’s Koo Shok Chen (#11) cuts a fast-break pass by RGS at mid-court and counter-attacks with a three-pointer.  Score:  13-24.
14:33h – AND maintain an 11-point lead.  Score: 15-26.
14:34h – RGS call for a time-out.
14:35h – Seow Hwee, AND’s towering centre, goes on a rampage and she drives into the centre lane for an easy 2.  Score:  28-15.
14:36h – End of second quarter:  17-28.

Quarter 3
14:40h – AND’s Seow Hwee scores a quick two at the start of the third quarter.  Score: 17-30,
14:41h – AND’s Chim Jia Xin (#5) scores a three.  Score: 17-33.
14:42h – Seow Hwee continues to terrorize the paint, both on the offensive and defensive ends.  She grabs an offensive rebound and puts the ball back into the basket.  Score:  17-35.
14:44h – AND’s Jia Xin drives fearlessly up the right lane against RGS defender and scores on a fast-break.  Score:  17-37.
14:45h – Seow Hwee converts another second-rebound.  Score: 17-39.
14:46h – RGS score a basket and convert two free-throws, but still lag in a 18-point trail.  Score:  21-39.
14:47h – AND misses an easy lay-up on a fast-break.
14:48h – AND’s Stephanie Teo (#10) makes a wild shot… and scores!  AND widen the gap by 20 points. Score: 21-41.
14:50h – RGS’s Cheryl Ng (#9) scores a basket amidst tough defence in the paint.  Score: 23-41.
14:50h – RGS’s Si Hui (#4) scores a three and narrows the gap.  Score: 26-41.
14:51h – AND lead RGS by 16 points.  Score: 29-45.
14:53h – RGS’s Cheryl scores another basket in the paint.  Score: 31-47.
14:54h – RGS’s Athena Raewyn Tan (#13) scores from the field at the baseline.  Score: 33-47.
14:54h – AND’s coach calls for a time-out.
14:57h – RGS’s Claire Alexandra Chew (#6) scores a three off the glass.  Score: 36-47.
14:57h – RGS make another counter-attack and quick basket.  Score: 38-47.
14:58h – End of third quarter.  Score: 38-47.

Quarter 4
14:59h – RGS start the last quarter trailing only by  9 points.
15:01h – RGS’s Claire Chew scores a two as she drives, stops and pops a jump-shot.  Score:  40-47.
15:02h – Technical foul was called against RGS, but both free-throw attempts were missed.
15:03h – AND’s Koo Shok Chen pops another three from the top of the D.  Score:  40-51.
15:04h – AND’s Seow Hwee goes down on a calf-muscle cramp.  Does this spell trouble for AND?
15:04h – In the meantime, RGS score another 4 points to cut AND lead to only 7 points. Score: 44-51.
15:07h – Seow Hwee goes back into the game, but is spotted limping.  She commits a shooting foul on RGS’s Claire who misses both free throws.
15:08h – AND’s Koo Shok Chen pops in another three.  Score:  44-54.
15:08h – RGS answer with another basket.  Score:  46-54.
15:08h – RGS start a full-court press defence, but also find themselves in foul trouble.
15:11h – AND lead by 7 points.  Score:  48-55.
15:13h – AND’s Seow Hwee receives a pass under the basket, and four RGS defenders crowd around her, committing a foul as a result.
15:14h – RGS’s Si Hui scores a field-goal.  Score: 50-55.
15:15h – AND’s Jia Xin scores a three.  Score: 50-58.
15:16h – The ball crawls into the basket for RGS.  Score:  52-58.
15:16h – RGS’s Claire makes one free-throw.  Score: 53-58.
15:17h – RGS make another free-throw.  Only 2:19m left in the game, and AND lead by only 4.  Score:  54-58.
15:19h – RGS make another basket, and it is now a 2-point game with less than two minutes to go.  Score:  56-58.
15:19h – AND’s Jia Xin goes on a fast-break and scores on the lay-up, drawing a shooting foul.  She fails to convert the free-throw.  Score:  56-60.
15:22h – AND’s Seow Hwee goes to the free-throw line and makes two.  1:26m left.  Score: 56-62.
15:23h – RGS continue full-court press defence and manage to stop AND attack. 
15:23h – RGS’s Joelynn Ng (#7) draws a foul and goes to the line.  She makes one free-throw, misses the second but pops in another basket on the rebound.  Score:  59-62.
15:24h – AND’s Koo Shok Chen goes on a fastbreak but misses the lay-up. 
15:25h – RGS’s Si Hui misses two crucial free-throws.
15:26h – AND’s Jia Xin gets a foul on a fast-break lay-up, but makes only one free-throw.  Score:  59-63.
15:27h – 40 second left and it’s a 4-point game.
15:27h – RGS’s Si Hui gets a shooting foul on a drive to the basket but misses both free-throws.  Score:  59-63.  00:30 left.
15:28h – AND’s Seow Hwee gets a non-shooting foul and goes to the line, and makes one free-throw.  Score:  59-64.
15:29h – RGS’s Si Hui drives to the basket but gets fouled by Seow Hwee.  Again, she misses two free-throws.  Seow Hwee is fouled out of the game.  Score:  59-64.
15:29h – RGS’s Jamie Chow goes to the line with 1.2 seconds left.  She makes both free-throws but time has run out.
15:30h – Anderson win the championship 64-61.
