RUGBY
Hey athletes,
Hope your June holidays are going fine. I finally managed to finish this episode containing highlights and interviews from the National ‘A’ Division Rugby Championship Final between Raffles Junior College and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent). If you don’t know who won, I won’t spoil the surprise. You can read more about the game and the controversy in the comments section in an earlier post.

So far, Red Sports has produced one episode per week on average over the last 14 weeks. Video is time and equipment intensive and takes about two days from start to finish. If you’re used to international standards on cable television, this pales in comparison but I thought it was worth the effort because there’s so much passion in school sports. If you’re a school alumnus, I’m sure this brings back fond memories.
Would you like to see RedSportsTV continue? If so, please let me know either through the comments section. I appreciate the feedback.
Red Sports. Always Game.

hi guys, thanks for the feedback on RedSportsTV. Appreciated.
Yes, given the times, having video is almost expected. Focusing only on football and rugby alone would be really hard to do because it will leave out a lot of other sports.
In fact, the basketball lovers outnumber everyone on this site. I can tell from the statistics for this web site. Even on days where I don’t have any basketball stories, the basketball pages get the highest number of views.
I’ve had someone volunteer his time to help me edit RedSportsTV because he believes in what I’m doing, which is great.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Hi Les,
Personally speaking, as am older reader, the website is pretty darned good enough – videos (and I know how much effort it takes, once took 10 hours straight to compile 4 hours worth of footage in a 3 min clip) while they are great, are to me the extras that make it even better. In essence, redsports.tv adds a different dimension to an already good website.
Kids on the other hand might say that visual entertainment is impt, but my opinion is if it takes too much time and effort, then put it on the back burner till manpower comes along to make it a viable regular thing on redsports.sg – which in no way deminish the value of the site
cheers
redsports tv should definitely continue. but maybe to lighten your workload, it should just cover big games, or sports that generally have high readership on the redsports website, like soccer and rugby..
Hi FrizoN, thanks for your comments. I’m recording on a consumer camera so not really stable and audio isn’t great either.
Actually what I was asking folks was whether they would like RedSportsTV to continue in general or it’s just unnecessary frills for the web site.
Would redsports.sg work if it was just stories and pictures?

Good job on the video,
Felt that the videos were slightly shaky and the audio could have been better at the part where the players were cheering. The video was rather long but it was still good.
Hi check. Thanks.
Yes, I’ll drop by some c division games. Should be fun.
To another rj dude: Thanks. Football one will come next. : )

Saints dun do Let’s go SA Let’s go…
we do…
“Push Saints Push”
“SA SA (clap 2x)”
“SA kema kema…”
“SA-JC (clap 2x)”
“SA unite we’ll show our might…”
good job on that video les.
dont worry too much about the terms used in rugby, u’ll get used to it with more experience on reporting on rugby. hope that u’re covering the c division as well.
cheers.
then again, most cheers are copied by different schools from different schools. SA does the Let’s Go SA Let’s Go cheer no? its hard to determine the origin of any cheers. and besides, RJC also copied SA’s “go SA go SA go, bring em down bring em down” cheer. lol.
woo fantastic video.. cant wait for the football one too!
lol. from the video… i can conclude that ACS copy RJ’s cheer…
RJC always got this cheer “Let’s go Raffles Let’s go” and u can see and hear them cheering it in this video…. but u can also see and hear from this video “Let’s go AC Let’s go”.
@les:
no probs. u’ll get familiar with all of that in no time.
@saint1862: very true.
that’s THE atmosphere of what i call School Spirit which i feel can only be found at Raffles, ACS and St Andrew’s. =)
Oh right. Ok thanks, RJC. I was standing on the AC try line at the other end. That’s why there’s no footage of it. I’m still trying to figure out mauls, rucks, scrums, forward pass, offside, etc … Not obvious to the uninitiated.
lol just fyi, acsi’s try came from a maul off a lineout. it wasnt from a scrum.
Hi. Thanks for your comments, ourhero.
Length wise, I’ve found that having it around 5-6 minutes allows me to get the best possible quality based on the limited equipment I have. The longer the video, the more I have to degrade it to upload it.
About interviewing ACS(Ind) – yes, we could have asked them for interviews. I usually reserve interviews for the winners. This is linked to the overall issue of video duration.
I commend Chee Meng for his sportsmanship in complimenting ACS(Ind).
I am exploring options for those who wish to purchase downloads of the videos at a fair price. So that’s coming up when I upgrade Red Sports over the next few months.
In the meantime, you can still enjoy here on the web site. 🙂
les,
I’m a RJC fan esp since my son is the #14 on the RJ team, the video was unique and very good, the female reporter was very good, also.
But it’s really about RJC, I think an interview or comment by the ACS(I) Captain, Blandon Tan would have been good. He’s always very sporting and balanced, maybe 1-2 of the other ACS(I) players would have been good, too. The video could have been 1-2 min longer, with some ACS(I) input. It’s too much like an RJC victory, YouTube thing.
I don’t mean to be critical because I could never put together something like you did. But I think it was a difficult defeat for ACS(I), so a good time to be very gracious even though Chew Ming complimented ACS(I).
Is there a way, I can preserve it so it can go into John’s archives for his future viewing ?
Hi Ejaz,
Thanks for checking back. Hope you enjoy the episode. I spent two days on it…
cheers
