RUNNING
The Singapore Marathon 07
A large group of runners headed down the finishing stretch. They ran closely, deliberately. The emcee mistook them for an army unit.
A closer look confirmed otherwise.
It was the Singapore Dragon Boat team, running in memory of their five teammates who drowned in the tragic accident at the Cambodian Water Festival on the Tonle Sap River on Friday, 23 November 2007.

Thanks, Pauline. Feel free to email me the pictures if you would like to share them with other readers.
Hi, I was surprised the MC and press didn’t pick this up. Nevertheless, it was nice of Standchart to do something like that. I got to know when one of the rowers waiting for the rest told me. I’ve got some shots of them running together. Most happy to share if you want.
Thanks for featuring this, its a very nice article and shot.
Hi Alicia,
I realise I didn’t mention what happened. I’ve since updated the post to mention the tragic accident in Cambodia.

I was on the lookout for them, but I guess we were in different race categories & missed them. Thanks v much for capturing this.
