Led by Ms Denise Phua, Pathlight School Board's School Supervisor and Jalan Besar GRC MP, students from the first autism-focused school in Singapore pledged their support by signing on special YOG pledge cards which were then collectively made into two collages measuring 2m by 1.5m each for public display. The pledge cards were sponsored by soy bean food and beverage retailer, Mr Bean.

At the ceremony which was attended by 80 Pathlight students and teachers, the collages were presented to Guest-of-Honour Mr Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. After Ms Phua presented a brief on the history of the Olympics Games, Mr Teo led the enthusiastic students in reciting the Olympic Creed.

Said Ms Phua: "Pathlight School is attended primarily by primary and secondary students who are encouraged to take up sports such as gymnastics. It is only natural that the students come forward and pledge their support for Singapore's bid for the first-ever YOG, just like every mainstream school student!"

Said Mr Teo: "The support shown by our schools has been overwhelming. Pathlight School is one of the schools that have stepped forward, on their own accord, to support the bid. We want the international community to see that our youths, no matter what school they attend, what curriculum they are studying, project the spirit of the Youth Olympics. Pathlight School is one great example."

N.B. Here at Red Sports, we are also collecting signatures to show our support for the Youth Olympic Games bid. If you haven’t already done so, please head on over to this story to sign off:
