Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 14 & 15, 2008 – Singapore schools dominated the CIMB-Cobra Cross-Straits Schools Rugby 10s tournament by bagging both the Under-14 and Under-13 titles at the Padang Utara in Petaling Jaya two days ago.

Lycee Francais du Singapour (LFS) were the victors of the Under-14 final by virtue of having scored the opening try after sudden-death extra time failed to break a 14-14 tie with ACS (Independent) in an all-Singapore clash.

Max Ducourmeau’s converted first minute try gave LFS, the 2007 Under-13 champions, a 7-0 lead before James Morgan turned the match around with two tries for ACS.

However, a late try by Ian Idris and the successful conversion set up five minutes of extra time in which ACS had no choice but to press for the winner having conceded the opening try but to no avail.

Bedok Town School completed the double for Singapore with a seven-try 47-0 mauling of SM Sains Selangor in the Under-13 final.

Eidrien Arocena was the pick of the Bedok players with a hat-trick of tries, including one which saw him run half the length of the field past three opposing players, while captain Roger Ng weighed in with another two.

The third edition of the tournament, the only event catering to players aged below 14 in the country, saw 16 teams competing in each
category over two days with the three Singapore schools fielding a team in both age groups.
