i actually think there are more expats in the race than locals actually… the sport of triathlon in singapore is such. i think it’s already awesome that there’s a story with pictures to go along! the newspapers don’t do it for sure.

The volunteer crew focuses on the top finishers of the race regardless of race. Perhaps you’re not familiar with triathlons but the nature of the event dictates this strategy.

Waiting for all locals to come out of the water, finish the bike leg or start their run just to take their pictures will mean missing crucial parts of the race.

We take a variety of pictures to give a sense of the event. That there are pictures of both locals and foreigners will indicate the mix of the participant profile.

This is a sports site dedicated to the Singapore sports story so perhaps your disappointment is unnecessarily misplaced.

But I guess to a certain extent it can’t be helped… because there are only so many names and faces you guys can remember for each sport.

I should be grateful enough that there’s always something new to read. And even more so when I see an old friend making the headlines on Redsports (used to train with Wille Loo at PAYSC)!

I know. I’m so embarrassed. I spelt it Crystal, my other photographer spelled it Kristel.

And when I said hello to Henry Fung, Christel’s dad, at Changi Beach Park on Sunday at the triathlon, I said “How’s Cheryl?”

I’m getting old.

Christel Fung’s name has been spelled in too many different ways in various tri articles â€“ Crystal, Kristel, Kirstel even â€“ so just for the record, it’s spelled the way I first mentioned it.
