Singapore footballers travel to Vietnam for Asian Cup qualifying tuneup

Wednesday, October 14, 2009 – Singapore will be travelling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Sunday, October 18th, to compete in the Ho Chi Minh City International Football Tournament - SJC Cup, which kick off on October 20th, 2009.

Led by National Coach Raddy, the 20-men Singapore squad will face the Vietnam national team, the Turkmenistan national team in addition to the Korea University Selection Team.

Despite missing some key players such as Indra Sahdan and Shi Jiayi due to injuries, Coach Raddy is nevertheless looking forward to the tournament as an opportunity to assess the players' forms.

"It is a good tournament for the Singapore team to get together again for international matches in preparation for the upcoming Asian Cup Qualifying match," said Coach Raddy. "We take every international match seriously and I will be using this tournament to assess the performance of all available players for the match against Thailand."

Singapore will play their opening match against the Korean University Selection team on Tuesday, 20 October at the Thong Nhat Stadium at 4.00pm local time (5.00pm Singapore time).
