Republic Polytechnic fall to ITE in men’s POL-ITE floorball

Republic Polytechnic Sports Complex Competition Hall, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 – In the ultimate showdown between two powerhouses of POL-ITE floorball, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) edged Republic Polytechnic (RP) 3-2.

The first period saw no scoring but things got exciting in the second period with two ITE goals.

The first ITE goal came through Mohd Rashid, (#30) with an assist by Murugan Nair (#20) at 17.26 in the second period and the second came via a superb Murugan Nair effort.

RP clawed their way back in the third period with a goal in the 34th minute by Wan-Nur Hazwan (#44) to make it 1-2 but ITE re-established their two-goal cushion when Abdul Haqem (#21) nailed a goal in the 40th minute.

A last-ditch attempt saw RP claim a goal with Sean Huang’s (#17) effort from Ahmad Afzal’s assist with less than two mintues left on the clock but defending champions RP could not pull out a win.
