Singapore’s Koh Seng Leong dominated the Laser Radial Men fleet to win gold while Elizabeth Yin and Victoria Chan scored a seventh and eighth in the Laser Radial Women’s fleet.
15 sailors represented Singapore at the recent 2009 Sail Melbourne regatta which is the concluding event in the ISAF World Cup series.
In the 470 men’s division, Roy Tay and Terence Koh ended the regatta in a credible fifth place as Olympic Gold medalists Malcolm Page and his partner Mat Belcher led the regatta from start to finish.

Singapore Indoor Stadium, Thursday, December 17, 2009 – The Singapore Slingers ended their three-game losing streak with a 69-66 win over the Thailand Tigers last week, but it was a special layup on court by Red Crew Erwin Wong that got fellow crew members up on their feet during half-time.
A friendly six-minute match between the media and celebrities was a refreshing addition to half-time entertainment, which ended 2-0 in the media’s favour.

First modern pentathlon qualification for Youth Olympic Games underway in Singapore

Singapore Sports School, December 19, 2009 – Preparations for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (Singapore 2010) are well in progress, with the Singapore Sports School being the latest competition venue to show its readiness for the Games.
The Sports School is hosting the first modern pentathlon qualification competition in Singapore from 19 to 20 December 2009. The Asia-Oceania Youth Olympic Games Qualification Competition will see 27 athletes from eight National Olympic Committees (NOCs) vying for a chance to compete at Singapore 2010.

And this frantic, frenzied need to win ultimately edged them past the Thailand Tigers 69-66 in a heart-stopping, backs-to-wall, come-from-behind triumph.
Kyle Jeffers led the team with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Michael LeBlanc and Marcus Ng added 15 and nine each, as the trio helped the Slingers overcome a 10-point half time deficit by scoring 30 of the team’s 40 second-half points.

SEA Games 09: Team Singapore finishes with 33 golds, 30 silvers and 35 bronzes

Laos, Friday, December 18, 2009 – Team Singapore concluded their 25th South East Asian (SEA) Games campaign with a Bronze medal in the men’s 25 metres Centre Fire Pistol Team, bringing their total medal tally to 33 golds, 30 silvers and 35 bronze medals.
They currently lie in sixth position in the medal standings. The Games will come to a close this evening. The next Games will be hosted by Indonesia in 2011.

SEA Games 09: Men’s 4×100m relay team go sub 40s en route to silver medal

Laos, Thursday, December 17, 2009 – Singapore won a gold, seven silvers and a bronze on the penutimate day of competition at the 25th South East Asian (SEA) Games in Laos.
Shot putter Zhang Guirong retained her gold medal won in the previous Games when she threw a distance of 17.12 metres. Zhang was streets ahead of the competition, winning handily by nearly a metre and a half.
