West Zone Basketball (Girls): Kranji beat Assumption English 30-20

Clementi Sports Hall, Friday, January 28, 2011 — Kranji Secondary beat Assumption English School 30-20 to notch their second win in Group A of the West Zone B Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

Kranji led 15-8 at half-time and apart from splitting the third quarter 8-8 with Assumption English, were never threatened.

Kranji improve to a 2-1 win-loss record but they are in a fight for a place in the next round with Dunearn Secondary who have an identical record.

While Dunearn will play their final group game against Bukit Batok Secondary (0-3), Kranji have a much harder fixture ahead of them in the form of unbeaten Unity Secondary (2-0).

In Group B, defending national champions Jurong West Secondary are top of their group with a perfect 2-0 record. Jurong Secondary (1-1) and Nanyang Girls’ High (1-1) are locked in battle for the other qualifying spot with Nanyang having the slight edge after beating Jurong 35-32 in an earlier group game.

Nanyang Girls’ will play New Town (0-2) in their final group game while Jurong will take on Jurong West for theirs.
