Singapore, January 27, 2011 — Organisers for the upcoming 2011 OCBC Cycle Singapore announced that a six-kilometre section of the East Coast Parkway (ECP) will form part of the new route.

The 6km section of the ECP will run from Fort Road to Laguna Flyover (Bedok South Ave), with the expressway closed exclusively for the cyclists in the Super Challenge (60km) and the Nissan Challenge (40km).

Organisers believe the new route will enhance cyclists’ safety by eliminating the narrow section of the East Coast Park which was part of the 2009 and 2010 routes.

In addition, riders in the Community Ride (20km) will have the opportunity to experience a one-km section of the ECP Expressway from Fort Road to the Tanjong Katong flyover.

“The new 6km section on the ECP is a project we’ve been working towards for a while now, and we’re thrilled to be able to confirm the route for participants of OCBC Cycle Singapore 2011,” said Chris Robb, Managing Director, Spectrum Worldwide.

“The well-being of OCBC Cycle Singapore participants is always our top priority and this new route will certainly enhance their safety, as well as their overall riding experience.”

“We would like to thank the various government agencies, especially the Land Transport Authority and the Singapore Traffic Police, for their support and assistance in making the exciting addition to the course possible.”
