Kallang Softball Centre, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 — Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) cruised into the Softball B Division final after romping past Hwa Chong Institution 9-2. A dominant performance by the ACS(I) batters gave them a constant flow of runs throughout the innings to keep Hwa Chong at bay.

Hwa Chong took the early lead after scoring the first run in their first inning. However, their lead was short-lived. The ACS(I) batters took matters into their own hands and hammered two blistering home runs and scored three runs in response.

Niels Aplin of ACS(I) scored a hit to get on base first before Jerel Tan sent him home with a scorching home run past the outfield. Thomas Tang gave the Hwa Chong pitcher no respite by knocking a solo home run right after Jerel.

Hwa Chong could only add one more run in the third inning. The ACS(I) batters combined to knock in six more runs to ensure a comprehensive win.

ACS(I) will now move on to face Raffles Institution in the B Division final on Tuesday, March 8, at Compassvale Secondary School.
