Singapore, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 — Shooter Gai Bin won the Sportsman of the Year award while national teammate Jasmine Ser made it a double honour for shooting by winning the women’s category as well.
The Singapore National Olympic Council did not hand out the nation’s highest sports award for the men in the last two years because no athlete had any significant achievements beyond the South East Asian (SEA) Games level then.
Gai Bin was Singapore’s most medalled athlete at the 2010 Commonwealth Games with seven medals.
Jasmine Ser brought home four medals from the same games held in Delhi, India.
