Singapore, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 — US Open Women’s singles champion Samantha Stosur has confirmed her participation in a 3-day exhibition tournament featuring six Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) players at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from December 16th to 18th.

This marks a return of professional women’s tennis to Singapore four years after the Republic last hosted an exhibition game involving WTA players in 2007.

Four of the six players have confirmed their participation and the list includes current US Open Women’s Singles Champion, Samantha Stosur from Australia (currently ranked 7th), Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland (ranked 13th), Peng Shuai from China (ranked 15th) and Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia (ranked 19th).

The top two seeded players from the final list of players will automatically qualify for the semi-finals on Saturday while the remaining four players will compete in two qualifying rounds on Friday. Spectators will enjoy two matches per day and the players are also expected to host a clinic for selected juniors and attend a charity gala dinner during their stay in Singapore.

Stosur, currently ranked seventh after her blistering win over Serena Williams in New York, is looking forward to her first visit to Singapore. She said, “I am looking forward to come and play in Singapore and I am sure it’s going to be an exciting event for all the tennis fans in this part of Asia.”

Daily tickets for the Singapore Women’s Tennis Exhibition start at $35 ($25 early bird) and are now available at www.sistic.com.
