Ancol Marina, Jakarta, Friday, November 18, 2011 — Team Singapore sailors have won two gold medals in the Optimist and 470 women’s at the 26th South-east Asian (SEA) Games even before the final two races.

Elisa Yukie Yokoyama won gold in the Optimist class while Sara Tan partnered Dawn Liu to claim the 470 gold.

Optimist sailor Elisa stamped her dominance on the event by notching two more wins in the 7th and 8th races. Her satisfaction with her win was clear for all to see as she exuded her signature grin all through to the finishing line. Her win is noteworthy because South-east Asia is the hotbed for this under-15 junior class where Singapore and its neighbours consistently top the world championships standings.

Sara Tan and Dawn Liu wins in their two races today meant they had an unassailable overall score in the 470 with two races to go tomorrow.

The duo will be off to Perth for the World Championships, a qualifying event for the 2012 Olympic Games.
