Clement Sports Hall, Monday, August 19, 2013 – Unity Secondary beat Chung Cheng High (Main) 63–56 in their final Round 1 group game in the National C Division Boys’ Basketball Championship.
The win ensured Unity topped their Round 1 group with a perfect 3–0 win-loss record. Unity beat Catholic High 55–32 in their opening game of the Nationals, then beat Seng Kang Secondary 48–27 in their next game.
For Unity, who won their sixth straight West Zone title this year, this win over Chung Cheng High was also their 15th straight victory from the start of their West Zone campaign. Unity move on to Round 2 of the championship.
Unity’s opponents in their Round 2 group are East Zone champions, Dunman Secondary, Bukit Panjang Government High (fourth in West Zone), and South Zone champions, Fairfield Methodist School.
Chung Cheng High, who finished as runners-up in the East Zone, they also qualified for Round 2 after finishing second in the group with a 2–1 record. Their two wins in the group came in a 41–22 victory over Seng Kang and a 39–32 win over Catholic High.
Chung Cheng’s Round 2 group contains Presbyterian High, the North Zone runners-up, Jurong Secondary, the West Zone runners-up, and North Vista Secondary, the North Zone champions.
