PESEB, Friday, March 11, 2014 — Saint Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) was up 55–0 against Pioneer Junior College (PJC) when the game was called due to the lightning alert. As more than three-quarters of the game was played, both teams discussed and decided that the match was completed. Therefore, SAJC took the win.
SAJC were able to maintain their unbeaten run in the group stages of the National A Division Rugby Championship. They secured qualification for the semi-final in their previous game against Jurong Junior College (JJC).
SAJC started off shaky, as they committed two knock-ons within the first few minutes. Adley Goh (SAJC #6) broke through for the first try, outrunning his defender on the left wing to score.
SAJC were able to gain territory with ease, forcing themselves through the PJC line. They added another five tries before the half-time break. Kon Fu Yuan (SAJC #15) had the pick of the bunch, weaving and powering his way through the PJC defence to score.
In the second half, PJC showed more resilience on defence. They were able to break down the SAJC offence occasionally, which most of the other teams in the group were unable to do. Despite this, SAJC scored another three tries before the game was called after the 60-minute mark.
SAJC will face Raffles Institution in the semi-final on May 5th at 3pm.
