Jurong East Sports Hall, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – The undefeated Bukit Panjang Government High claimed the West Zone B Division Netball Championship after seeing off Nan Hua High School 23-20 in the final.

The pressure was on Nan Hua after their juniors failed to overcome Nanyang Girls’ High School in the earlier C Division final, and it might have gotten to them as they were unable to hold off Bukit Panjang and their tall GS, Claire Png.

Groupings for Round 2 of National B and C Division girls volleyball

With Round One of the National B and C Division Girls Championships having ended recently, the groupings for the Top 8 are out.

Notably, the biggest casualties in the B Division were the 2009 B Division runners-up Ngee Ann Secondary, and third runner-up Bukit Panjang Government High, who both failed to make it to the quarter-finals.

Cedar Girls’ Secondary, Dunman Secondary, Presbyterian High, St. Hilda’s Secondary, Shuqun Secondary, Nanyang Girls’ High, Jurong Secondary and Xinmin Secondary are the eight who have secured a spot in the next round in the B Division.

Alanna Lim leads SCGS to South Zone B Division Basketball Championship with final victory over RGS

Delta Sports Hall, March 10, 2010 – The undefeated Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS) crushed Raffles Girls’ School (RGS) 76-39 to clinch the South Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

SCGS finished fourth last year after losing to RGS in the 3rd/4th placing match, but there was no doubt about the result today as they led from the first quarter to give their opponents no chance in the match. Alanna Lim (SCGS #10) starred for her team with a game-high 24 points and was duly named the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Yishun Sports Hall, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – The C Division South Zone Netball Championship final proved to be a thrilling showdown between arguably the two finest netball school teams in Singapore, CHIJ Secondary Toa Payoh (CHIJ) and Raffles Girls’ School (RGS). However, RGS eventually pipped CHIJ to the title after posting a narrow victory of 24-21.

Republic Polytechnic, Friday, March 5, 2010 – Defending zonal champions Singapore Sports School and dark-horses Canberra Secondary will challenge for the North Zone B Division Netball Championship title after beating their respective semi-final opponents convincingly.

Sports School had it easy as they led their semi-final from start to finish, beating Anderson 38-14. In contrast, Canberra had to toil for their spot in the final, only pulling away in the second half to edge North Vista 36-23.

Teck Ghee Primary School, Friday, March 5, 2010 – Height matters, and there is no place more obviously seen than in primary school basketball.

Teck Ghee’s lanky centre #14, standing at more than 1.8m tall, did everything for his team from scoring to defending to rebounding in a dominant 32-19 semi final win over First Toa Payoh Primary School.

Yet that was not to mean that the semi final was one sided all the way.
