Raffles Institution and Peirce Sec record wins in South Zone second round basketball

CCAB, Monday, 8 Feb, 2010 – Raffles Institution and Peirce Secondary both preserved their unbeaten record in the South Zone Basketball Championship by registering big wins in their respective second round matches.

Peirce beat Kent Ridge 80-35 while Raffles beat Gan Eng Seng 80-36.

The exciting match of the day was Mayflower Secondary edging out Yuying Secondary in Group Y for their first win in the second round.

Round up of C Div South Zone netball first round

All the recognised powerhouses have entered the second round of the C Division South Zone Netball Championship.

Defending champions St Margaret’s Secondary were not threatened by any school as they kept all their first round opponents to below 10 points each. St Margaret’s had comfortable 55-1 and 53-1 victories over Bendemeer Secondary and Holy Innocents’ High respectively. St Margaret’s also knocked out Chong Boon Secondary and Cedar Girls’ School 27-6 and 24-4 respectively to finish top of the Group A.

CCAB, Friday, February 5, 2010 – Zhonghua Secondary School beat Guangyang Secondary School 49-32 in a Girls’ B Division South Zone second round Group X match.

Both teams came into the opening second round match with identical 3-1 win-loss records, although Guangyang survived an amazing three-way tie to finish top in their first round group.

CCAB, Friday, February 5, 2010 – Singapore Chinese Girls’ School (SCGS) had their biggest win of their B Division South Zone basketball campaign this year when they thumped Mayflower Secondary School 92-16 in a second round Group Y encounter.

The gulf between the two teams was evident right from tip-off, as SCGS ran off 16 unanswered points while forcing countless turnovers from the Mayflower team, which simply could not break the full court trap that their opponents sprang at them.

Night Safari, Saturday, February 6, 2010 – This afternoon, close to 200 kids competed to be the aLIVE Fastest Kid in the first ever competitive run for kids held at the Night Safari. Open to children aged between 7 to 12 years old, the 3.2km run was a challenge introduced to encourage the young to actively participate in healthy lifestyle choices.
