Red Sports had the privilege of sitting down with Ronald Susilo, one of Singapore’s top badminton players who once represented Anglo Chinese School (Independent) during his secondary school days.

Ed:  What do you remember of your playing days in secondary school?

Ronald:  Oh, the coaches were tough! They were strict and enforced discipline.

Ed:  You’ve played in 6-star competitions like the Aviva Open Singapore.  Can you compare the crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with the crowds at school competitions?

Ronald:  School supporters are noisier!  It’s great to feel the school spirit when the whole school will come down to support.

Ed:  Do you remember who your greatest rivals were when you were playing for ACS(I)?

Ronald:  Oh yes!  Montfort and RI!  RI at South Zone level and Montfort at Nationals level.

Ed: Can you list for us all the titles you’ve won?

Ronald:  Well, I won 1 ‘B’ Division title when I was 14 years old.  In fact I played ‘B’ Division for 3 years.  I was also the individual and doubles champion at the National Championships for 3 years in a row – ’94, ’95 and ’96.

Red Sports wishes Ronald continued success on both a personal and country level.
