If you were at the game and would like to share your comments, please feel free to do so. The good, the bad, the ugly, the refereeing…oops.
As a referee, I would like to say that Azhar (the ref) actually had a very good game contrry to the belief of some on the posters.
I would just like to clarify that the Touch Judges (TJ) role is to report any off the ball incidences and not help to spot knock on, forward passes etc. This is the reason why Matt Oakley (TJ) was communicating to Azhar and not because Azhar missed knock ons etc. If you guys took up refereeing, you would understand that the referee cannot see everything and his primary role to “follow the ball”.
reponse to me: Azhar is not the “head of referee”, he is Singapore’s best referee and one of 2 International Test Referees in Singapore (Matt Oakley being the other). The best referee is always appointed for every game so it has nothing to do with your conspiracy theory.
You got that right Game time! Be there or be Square!
ACS(I) @ 4.30 pm
‘A’ Division Interschool Rugby
ACS(I) vs SAJC
Let the rivalry go back to the field where it rightly belongs – tomorrow, ACS(I) takes on SAJC in an “A” Div prelim round match-up! Time 4:30pm @ACS(I).
It’s going to be a cracker of a game! May the better team win!
Lest anyone is mistaken, the comments posted were not made by both schools nor their rugby teams. Let the offending individuals do their own apologising.

You did good by writing what you did, Pete. You the man.
I decided I would let the post by jiubabaaaa go so that all of you can see what i mean by offensive.
I will take it down in time.
Comments like these, especially done anonymously, say something about the person who writes it.
hey everyone. i’m from the acsi rugby team and to be honest, i am quite ashamed by the post from a few of my fellow acsians and that uncle les had to resort to telling you guys off.
both our 2 schools as mentioned above are indeed mission schools so when then should we be throwing such sarcasm and insults at each other? it’s just making both our schools look really unsporting and disgustingly childish.
to any saints people who have been offended, on behalf of my team and school i am truly sorry. to all the ac ruggers out there, lets leave our arguing on the rugby pitch.
i hope that there won’t be any more negative comments towards each other. May we glorify God in all that we do and say.
and stop being sore losers.. lose than lose lah… u cant always win rite… zzz
Aiyah… saint1862 and KopManiak… instead of arguing on redsport.. go and study lah… saint andrews O levels results not very good.. so if u love your school so much.. study hard…. and score well.. arguing on redsports wont do u no good… and pls.. grow up
I just had to delete one comment and edit another from 2 ACS boys that were just too offensive.
Look guys, you can do better than that, especially when kopmaniak had the decency to apologise for his words.
If I ever posted what you wrote, people will be shocked that you actually came from ACS(I). So for the sake of the school you represent, I won’t allow it.
Hi we’ll try and cover it when we can. Too many sports, so little time! Anyway, we also welcome readers to contribute their pictures and stories on their games. That’s what this site is meant for.

Les
the fact is, ACS won and SA lost.
Either way, its doesnt change the score. SA rugger boys, work harder next year, congrats to ACS.
SA if you are good, you will win it next time.
ACS, defend your title. I’d suggest you change your match chant if it offends other religions.
End of story.
Change of topic here.
Les – can you report on the progress of the A and C games?
Adios…
*peace* v
hmm this is interesting. saint andrews kinda invest alot (or everything) into rugby so not winning really pains them. hmm i think its better to leave the haka alone cos enough insults have been thrown both ways. about ‘poaching players’, its really the individuals choice whether or not to join the school. all the team offers them is the place.(which you would obviously do if your a coach and you see talent in a player) its really not being forced upon them. i know a few ruggers in acsi now from saints primary who have thrived not only in rugby but accedemically under the acsi enviroment. so please. don’t be angry that you feel we’ve ‘poached’ your players. ask them how they feel about it and i’m sure you will have all your questions answered
Coach Dick Yip
I would like to sincerely thank Glenn Lucas for his frank and open comments, which coming from him with his ancestry, spoke volumes.
It is not within my authority to tell schools not to do the haka. Personally, I am a great believer in respecting other people’s customs, beliefs, culture and heritage. And would pay great heed to things they regard as sacrosanct and things that should never be trivalised…as had happened here in some of the postings.
My personal view is that the “ka Mate” haka should only be performed by the All Blacks as it is their indigeneous, sacred right and part of their rich heritage. Other teams should create their own chants as Glenn rightly pointed out, such as the other Pacific island states…Fiji, Tonga, Samoa,…etc. They have their own pre-match chants and not pseudo-versions of the haka. That would be unthinkable! Islanders being natives themselves understand that much. Each hold their rituals in great respect and not something that should be trifled with or trivalised in comments on the internet.
looking at how much things have been written here makes my eye skank.
Hi Coach Dick Yip.
I am Maori descent, and just read this forum. I dont much about the rivalvry, but:
Just 2 points:
1) If you respect the Maori people so much, then dont do it.
Most of all, dont try and speak the language. The Haka is a sacred practice, and I am sure you wouldnt want other people performing your cultural practice and giving wrong impressions.
It appears that Singaporeans have a misconception of the Haka looking at this website. So in all fairness, dont do something you are not sure off.
2) For example, the correct terminology of the Haka is a Moari word, not a rugby word.
The Haka is only done by the New Zealand All Blacks before a game because of their Maori heritage. There are other countries / clubs and teams that have their own war dance such as Fiji, W Samoa and Tonga.
However there are other countries that dont do a war dance. Rugby is a sport started by the early English settlers, and wasnt created by by the Maori people. The All Blacks only do it because its a Moaori heritage. Singaporeans dont have a Maori heritage, so you shouldnt do it, eventhough some other bloke said go ahead.
I guess if your team can comes up with their own war dance and wins, then the losing team has got nothing to complain.
Coach Dick Yip:
Hi 1862. The main point I have made above is:
1. Avoid criticising other people’s culture at all. It is simply unaccepatable
in a registered, responsible site such as this. It is made worse when this
is done under the cover of sports/school/ego bashing that has no
connection with the proud tradition of the Maoris in their own land.
2. In Singapore itself, we are extremely careful not to criticise other
people’s culture as we are a multi-racial,multi cultural society. If you
want to do a Ph D on the “haka” by interviewing every living Maori in
your research please go ahead. We will be patiently awaiting your
findings. The whole world will also be waiting as yours may suoercede
the official ones I’ve quoted….and they are Maori approved!
those the post on the web or partial facts only. for a complete fact, need to ask the Maori people…
