Kendrick Lee became the first Singaporean to go past the first round of the 6-star USD 200,000 Aviva Open Singapore this afternoon when he beat Malaysian Tan Chun Seangin straight sets, 15-13, 15-12. Kendrick, who played in the ‘C’ and ‘B’ Divisions for Catholic High in his secondary school days, was always in control in the match and led from start to finish. His strong smashes often left his opponent with no answer and a bemused smile on his face. Kendrick will now face China’s Jen Chin in the second run.
