Singapore Indoor Stadium, Friday, May 3, 2007 — Ronald Susilo beat fellow Singaporean Kendrick Lee 2-1 (21-13, 16-21, 21-10) in the quarter-final of the 2007 Aviva Open Singapore. Susilo progresses into tomorrow’s semi-final against Boonsak of Thailand.

This is Cheng, and I’m back here at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on the fourth day of the Aviva Open Singapore 2007.

Today, we’re into the quarter-final stage, and the match between our Singapore boys Kendrick Lee and Ronald Susilo has just started.

Set 3
– Susilo wins the third set 21-10, and win the match 2-1.
– Kendrick hits a smash right into the net.
– Kendrick fires a smash and holds Susilo 10-20.
– Susilo does a turnaround in the air for a return.
– Susilo goes into set-point 20-9 when Kendrick sends a shuttle out of bounds.
– After a long rally, Kendrick sends a deflected shuttle off bounds, and Susilo leads 19-9.
– Kendrick sends an acute cross-court hit that Susilo fails to catch, and wins serve 9-18.
– Kendrick sends a cross-court smash out of bounds, and Susilo leads 18-8.
– Kendrick makes Susilo tumble to make a return, then quickly sends a cross-court smash that Susilo fails to react to.  Kendrick wins serve 8-17.

– Kendricks wins second set 21-16, and levels the match 1-1.
– Susilo sends a lob to the backcourt and lands out of bounds.
– Kendrick sends a hit to the backcourt that lands inbounds and catches Susilo offguard.  Kendrick moves into set-point 20-16.
– Kendrick fires a smash at Susilo’s body, Susilo returns but the shuttle deflects out of bounds.  Kendrick serves 19-16.
– Kendrick returns a hit into the net.  Susilo holds serve 16-18.
– Susilo fires a smash and wins serve 15-18.
– Kendrick makes Susilo bend low for a return and quickly returns a cross-court smash.  Kendrick leads 18-14.
– Kendrick fires another smash that flies past Susilo’s legs.  Kendrick 17-14.
– Kendrick fires a smash, Susilo fails to return.  Kendrick leads 16-14.
– Susilo returns a smash but the shuttle deflects out of bounds.  Kendrick serves 15-14.

– Kendrick flicks the shuttle to the backcourt and Susilo makes an erroneous judgement and fails to return.  Kendrick wins serve 13-20.
– Kendrick sends two consecutive lobs to the backcourt where the shuttle goes out of bounds.  Susilo goes into set-point 20-12.
– Susilo hits a drop too light and the shuttle fails to clear the net.  Kendrick serves 12-18.
– Kendrick makes a few errors, sending the shuttle out of bounds or hitting it right into the net.  Susilo leads 18-11.
– Kendrick sends Susilo flitting to the backcourt for a return, and immediately returns a quick drop.  Kendrick serves 10-14.
