Raffles Junior College vs Anglo-Chinese Junior College
Wednesday, 9 May 2007 at Raffles Junior College
Story and pictures by Red Sports reader Mr Wee Ban Bee, an ACS old boy. Thanks, Mr Wee!
Raffles Junior College (RJC) beat Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 7-3 in a hard fought game this afternoon to set up a semi-final clash with St Andrew’s Junior College. ACJC will now have to meet ACS(Ind) in the other semi-final, a scenario both Anglo-Chinese schools did not want.

The match started almost an hour late at 5.25 pm due to rain and possible lightning.
RJC scored the first and only try about 3 minutes after kick off. According to observers, it should not have been given as it was a forward pass that missed the referee’s attention. A clearance by ACJC was blocked by RJ and with the bouncing ball, RJ was able to go ahead and get a try even though it was supposedly a forward pass. RJC’s conversion was successful to make the score 7 – 0 to RJC.

After that most of the game was played in RJ’s half. A penalty was given to ACJC and Mandeep Singh managed to convert to give AC their 3 points.

During the second half, RJ were awarded a penalty right in front of the goal post about 30m out. The kick went way left and missed the posts altogether.

ACJC pressed on with their attack and managed what appeared to be a try right under the goal posts but this was not seen by the referee as the boys were piled up over each other. Refereeing was fair to both sides. ACJC will thus meet ACS(I) at Old PA next Wednesday 16 May at 3.15pm with RJC meeting SAJC at 4.30pm.

Editor’s comment: Sounds like there were some controversial calls, huh? If you were there too, please feel free to share your comments about the game. If you recongise yourself or your team mates in the pictures, let us know names and we’ll update the captions. Thanks.
you must be gay if u insulted mr wee. at least he bothered to do the report…
funny how now ac pple lose and blame the ref or mr wee…
lose means lose lah…
but good for the sport ! 🙂
Let me state categorically that any personal attacks against Mr Wee is uncalled for and rather juvenile. I delete those posts and I keep your IP address for future reference.
Mr Wee is a willing contributor who enjoys the game and loves his old school. I declare that he is an ACS old boy so that you, the reader obviously knows where his affiliations come from.
You therefore read the story from that point of view.
Do you have an alternate view? Well and good. Write it here, or send it in a separate email and I’ll post it. No need to make puerile and childish allegations about him.
WIthout Mr Wee’s contributions, none of us will get to read about it or see pics of the game on this site.
I guess, from this RedSports Website, people with eyes can see that SA, ACS and Raffles people are filled with much sense of affiliation towards their schools which other schools’ students do not have.
a great and exciting A-Div championship this year…
tensions will flare up when RJ and SA play each other. the rematch of last year’s final promises to be a very tight affair. ACSI and ACJC, brothers they may be, but it comes to a point where the superior ACSI ruggers will teach their cousins a lesson.
RJ vs ACSI-the second coming…stay tuned@
the ref wasnt biased.. but he made an error..
acjc – suck it in! 🙂
but good fight from rj players.
my reply to bystander is, NO. obviously it wouldn’t be worse if RJC met SAJC in the semis. Cause it was obvious ACJC was dominating the game throughout with 2 disallowed trys. with posession of 65% to aCJC?
One code of conduct here, dudes.
Respect and courtesy.
If you don’t know the writer or contributor or anyone, please be courteous and address them with a Mr or Miss.
You can call us Uncle or Jie Jie or whatever, but even we address the contributor as Mr Wee.
So be polite there, and we will appreciate it very much.
Thanks.
The results speak for itself. No matter how bias Mr Wee wishes to write this article
if the ref were biased, why would he want SA facing stronger opposition. if the ref were biased, he would have let ACJ win of course.
the forward pass was a forward pass. it wasnt refererring to the chargedown. get ur facts right man.
we won it fair and square. don’t be sore abt it. the ref was not biased to any of the sides.
The refereeing in my opinion wasn’t biased but for him to miss out on the AC try was…..ummm….unforgiveable! That would have won the game for ACJC.
Poor postitioning of the ref in such a critical moment in an important game is not excusable!!
Both teams played hard and fair. The poor weather condition affected play and it was a generally scrappy but exciting affair.
the guy stopping shahir is zhehan, 3rd photo rj is nazirul, 4th photo from bottom rj is yiming.
The ref was freaking biased against ACJC, it’s really easy to tell from the stand, and ‘some people’ obviously don’t want an AC finals.
wouldnt it be worse off for sa meeting rj then i mean they beat acjc afterall. i guess if acjc is good enough they will be in the finals anyway
The ref was so obviously biased and everyone who watched the match knew it. He’s an SA dude man. Obviously they didnt wanna meet us in the semis.
weeeeee.power la green.now tings are runnin smoothly.cngrats man.i mean next is sajc.woo.ferstly it wnt be meetin sajc in final.scndly, threll be no ac vs ac final.aww sad.btw cngrats to both teams.played gd.CHEERS
Sorry but the first try was quite legit. According to the rules, a chargedown is not considered a forward pass. Off a chargedown, the normal offside rules do not apply.
On another note, the ACJC kicker is MANDEEP singh not Manjit.
first picture, the acjc guy on the ground is JD.
8th pictures, the acjc guy that’s being stopped is shahir.
