National ‘A’ Division Semifinal
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) vs Anglo-Chinese Junior College
Wednesday, 16 May 2007 at the old Police Academy
Pictures by Mr Wee Ban Bee (ACS old boy), Mr Joshua Tan (ACS old boy) and Mr John Loh (ACS(I)). Story by Mr Joshua Tan. Thanks, gentlemen!
Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) beat Anglo-Chinese Junior College 15 – 6 this afternoon to book their place in the championship final against Raffles Junior College.

Today was blessed with perfect weather for both the semifinal matches. Supporters were very well behaved since both teams were from the AC family. To differentiate support for both sides, the ACS(I) supporters cheered for ‘IB’ and the ACJC supporters cheered for ‘JC’ instead of the usual ‘AC’ cheers. It was kind of funny but well it’s all good.

Both sides were rather evenly matched and the game was close. Ultimately, what I feel won the game for ACS(Ind) was its superior line outs and their awareness in capitalizing on failed long ball throws from ACJC. This won them a lot of possession and coupled with some neat scrummage, they were able to get good balls to their backs.
ACS(I) scored three unconverted tries to ACJC’s two penalties to seal their victory.

Seems like either the kickers were off or the ball wasn’t suited for conversions as for both matches, the conversion and penalty rate were rather appalling.

it was a good match of rugby. acsi probably edge it and slightly deserve the win but acjc put a very good fight. acsi did well to pounce on acjc’s hesitation and mistakes to score the tries.congrats to them. acsi and acjc will win thier next game hands down. for sure.
1st and 3rd that is.
good luck.
Win this A Div and ACSi will be 1 step closer to the only secondary school in Singapore to win a grand slam.
ACJC looks sharper than SAJC and i reckon they can win at least by a try.
