Raffles Institution vs Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)
Wednesday, 30 May 2007, at Raffles Institution

The following report by Red Sports reader, Mr Kwok Wen Jian. Thanks, Wen Jian!

(Editor’s note: Firstly, no pictures were submitted with the report. Secondly, we understand that this story contradicts a story earlier one that was submitted by another Red Sports reader, Mr Bernard Han. We understand as well from the ensuing comments in that report that there is some confusion over the winner of the championship title as a result of a three-way tie. We have not been able to get any confirmation on the winner.)

Raffles Institution started batting without scoring any run in the first inning. Samuel, RI’s short stop, was being called out because he broke the circle rule. In the bottom inning, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) scored a run and the inning ended with a score of 1-0 in favour of ACS(I).

It was a different story in the next inning, as it was RI who scored two runs and ACS(I) none.  After five innings of battle, both teams tied with a score of 4-4. The umpire called for a tie-breaker inning. RI scored 12 runs in the 6th inning under the carefully planned and structured strategy. RI’s morale went up greatly, while ACS(Ind) lost heart. The ACS(I) pitcher kept giving walks, and RI’s runners got home safe through smart base stealing. The game ended with a score of 16-4 in favour of RI.
