National ‘C’ Division Championship 2007 (Boys)
Catholic High School vs Bedok Green Secondary School
Wednesday, 11 July 2007, at Bedok Green Secondary School
Story and pictures by Bernard Han, a teacher of Catholic High School. Thanks!
Having already qualified for the semi-finals, this match was of no consequence but Catholic High showed no signs of letting up as they crushed Bedok Green 46 – 0.

It was a game of hits and runs, as the Catholic High boys chalked up a total of nine home runs. Zheng Peng (#3), Terence (#56) and Jerald (#37) opened their accounts with a home run each, while Daniel (#70), Kayue (#29) and Wee Kian (#37) bettered their records with two. It was credit to Bedok Green who at one point, caught one of the fly balls and made a swift throw to the second base to put out two Catholic High players at one go. They never gave up and played the full 5 innings, forcing the turnovers when it mattered.

However, when it was their turn to bat, they were unable to hit any balls pitched by Jerald, and grounded out on two occasions. No mercy was shown by the Catholic High players as they made sure that the batters could not even reach the first base.
As the top four teams from the two groups begin to emerge, the battle for the championship title will be more intense. This was another routine win by Catholic High and it remains to be seen if the players will be able to challenge themselves at the next level.
