CCAB, Thursday, August 2, 2007 – Dunman beat Ngee Ann 30-23 to go top of their group in the adidas It Takes 5ive Tournament.
Little separated these two sides as they fought it out in this Group A encounter. Dunman High, who had already beaten Chung Cheng 50:41 in their first game, held the slight edge at the end of the first quarter leading 9-6. Dunman led their lead slip through their fingers though as Ngee Ann came fighting back in the second quarter, outscoring Dunman High 7-4 to even things up at 13-13 at half time.
Things remained tight in the third quarter with both teams scoring eight points apiece to bring the score to 21-21 by the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Ngee Ann’s captain Tan Rong Shun (#4) fouled out and that changed the nature of the game. Dunman High broke through and outscored Ngee Ann 9-2 in the quarter to finish the game 30-23 winners. Dunman High’s #9 was the team’s top scorer with 10 points while teammate #13 contributed nine points. Ngee Ann’s Liu Jing (#8), Md Haikal (#12) and Joel (#7) contributed most of the points for their team but it was not enough on the day.
