Hannah Ng of Raffles Girls’ School was recently voted in as one of the Red Sports 5, an online poll conducted right here on Red Sports. She received the highest number of votes for the position of Power Forward. Hannah was also voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the 2007 National ‘C’ Division Basketball Championship Final between RGS and Unity Secondary School. RGS won the game 69-64.

Red Sports: How long have you been a school athlete?
Hannah: I’ve represented my school in basketball since Primary 5.
Red Sports: What is the most memorable moment playing for your school, apart from this year’s championship win?
Hannah: Winning the Primary 6 National Basketball Championship.
Red Sports: Are you hoping to play on in the ‘B’ Division?
Hannah: Yes I am.
Red Sports: How tall are you?
Hannah: Around 173cm.
Red Sports: If you weren’t playing basketball, what other sport would you try?
Hannah: If I weren’t playing basketball, I’d probably be playing badminton now because I was in badminton before I joined basketball.

Red Sports:What was the most exciting/brilliant/disappointing/horrendous game for RGS this year? Why?
Hannah: One good moment when we beat Anglican High in the quarterfinals, because we lost to them twice last year, once in a friendly where we were thrashed and the other in the national final. At the start of this year, we lost to them once in a friendly too.
A bad experience was the Chung Cheng high game in the quarterfinals too where we lost to them and we could have been out of the competition.
Red Sports: What do you think was the main reason RGS went all the way this year and won the ‘C’ Division Championship?
Hannah: It was because of our teacher in charge, Mr Ong, with his inspirational team talks and our coach who has coached us through bad and good times, for never giving up on us. Also, all the players worked hard to achieve the title.

Haha, that’s because Hannah didn’t play that match. I bet her presence was important to the team, captain aye. Hannah was the one who led the team to the finals with her high contribution to the team.
