Ang Mo Kio Secondary beat Evergreen Secondary 25-11 25-16 yesterday in the National Junior U-16 Championships. It was the final group game for both sides and the game was marked by long rallies that slowly wore both sides down.

The girls from both teams chose to play it safe with many free balls given away to the opposition. Both teams tried to organise attacks but the game often ended up in long rallies. However, there were times when players would earn points with their well-placed spikes, getting cheers from the team bench.

The second set saw Evergreen stepping up their attacks with service aces. In the last few points of the game, mistakes made by the Ang Mo Kio team allowed Evergreen to narrow the gap. However, timeouts called by the Ang Mo Kio coach allowed them to stay focused and eventually win the second set 25-16.
