Hi athletes and sports fans,
This morning, an email in my inbox from our webmaster asked: “Is today the 1st birthday of Red Sports? The first post is dated January 31, 2007.” And so it is. We have turned a year old and in those 365 days, we have posted 852 stories with a lot of help from readers.
Interestingly, the statistics indicate that we hit a record high of 175,000 page views for a single month in January 2008 from 43,000 unique visitors, the second highest monthly total since May 2007 (46,500). To date, a total of 353,000 readers have visited Red Sports generating 1.4 million page views.
So we would like to say a big “thank you” to our readers who keep coming back and to our volunteers and freelancers who have spent time writing stories and taking pictures. Red Sports is around because you give us permission to be part of your lives, to tell your stories and to take your pictures.
Red Sports exists to tell a Singapore sports story because this is our town. Why is this story important? Because this is where we live, this is where we grow up, and to represent your school, your club, your country is an honour and a privilege.
To play is to remember that we are human, that we are designed to move. To play is to feel your adrenalin flowing, your heart beating. To play is to feel, endure and overcome pain, to learn grace in victory and humility in defeat.
To play is to live.
Play on, Singapore.
Les
You guys have come a long way.. It’s been awesome working with you. Keep up the good work Les. It’s awesome.
My Warmest CONGRATULATIONS on this historic, first Anniversary of RedSports.
For all readers out there…..the very 1st game we [ Les and I ] covered was the North Zone Soccer match between Serangoon Sec and Deyi Sec on 31st Jan 2007. As usual ,Les worked the cameras while I did the reporting and write-up. For all involved, it required a tremendous amount of SACRIFICE of our time, energy, hardwork and money. But it was nevertheless fun and most challenging to see the trickle of visitors climbing from a handful to the truly astounding and impressive figures reached today.
My personal wish is for the SSC, the Secondary and Primary School Sports Council and the 4 Zone Councils to embrace and extend their fullest support and co-operation, in concrete ways, to RedSports.
And to all you volunteers helping out….Keep up the good work!
You deserve more than a pat on the back.
3 Cheers!!!
