China has offered to assist with Singapore’s bid to host the first Youth Olympic Games in 2010. Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo revealed this in Parliament yesterday, while commenting on the state of Singapore’s bilateral relations with China.
The offer came in a letter from the Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Zhang Xiaokang to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, after Singapore’s win was announced. Minister Yeo added, “We are touched by the gesture and will certainly take up the offer, for there is much that we can learn from China’s own experience.”
China be hosting the Summer Olympic Games in August this year.
