Middle Spiker
Daryl Lee, a middle spiker of Guangyang Secondary managed to maintain his lead over the rest to emerge with the highest number of votes at 114. Now in Secondary 4, he picked up volleyball when he was Primary 4 and has been in the Combined Schools volleyball team before. Daryl is also in Track & Field where his forte is the High Jump.
Qing Shan from Catholic High comes in second with 105 votes. A volunteer with Red Sports, his designation is REDeye102. A strong blocker, he is a regular face in the starting 6 of his team.
Open Spiker
Melvin Goh, one of the open spikers of Catholic High, got the highest number of votes for the position of Open Spiker. With 92 votes, he trumps his nearest contender by over 40 votes. Picking up volleyball at a young age under the influence of his older brother, he is also in the Combined Schools team. He came from the same primary school as Daryl Lee, where he helped his team win the Inter-Primary National Championships.
Lawrence Tan from Shuqun Secondary overtook Catholic High’s Koh Zuo Quan in the final weeks of the voting for a place in the RedSportsVII. With 51 votes, he triumphed by 10 votes. One of the strongest players in the B Division, he worked hand in hand with his teammates to finish second place in the 2007 U-16 Volleyball Championship.
Setter
Muhd Anwar from Shuqun Secondary has maintained his foothold as the voters’ favourite setter with 42 votes. Arguably one of the best setters in Singapore schools, he was the setter for the Combined Schools team last year. His lethal drop shots has won many points for his team during competitions.
Subset/Opposite Spiker
Justin Kweh, the subset from St. Hilda’s Secondary, earns a place in the RedSportsVII with 88 votes. With the most powerful jump serve in the B Division, he often leaves his opponents reeling. An all-rounded player, his spiking from the opposite side sometimes take his opponents by surprise. Not only that, his ability to receive the most powerful shots from his opponents make him a prime target for volleyball head hunters.
Libero
Sometimes the “forgotten” player in a team, Wong Wei Zhi has proved that he is a crucial member of his team’s defence. With 79 votes, he is the favourite Libero among the voters. Capable of receiving powerful spikes, he also gives encouragement to his teammates and is able to analyse his opponent’s points of attack.

precisely! benjamin is so much better! he is able to trick his oponents and his teamwork with his teammates is great. he knows when to spike and when to tap the ball lightly (fang4 qiu3) over. at least, he plays smart. rather than spiking n spiking only. lol no offence, but benjamin is way better.
Being a centre is not whether you zai or not, is to see whether you as a centre can trick off opponent blocking vision and let your subset and open spiker one on one play. that is then a good middle hitter. i would prefer benjamin and his another teammate who play centre also, darren.
AIYA. this kind of poll is who more popular then who will eventually emerged as the winner. Therefore, who got voted as the best or who got the most votes (be it through legal means or not), doesn’t mean that they are really that fantastic in their skills. It’s just everyone’s opinion of who are the better ones (biasness). From the polls above, it’s pretty obvious that people are overrated. 🙂
Libero- Weizhi
Setter- Anwar
Open Spiker- Melvin / Lawrence
Subset- Justin Kwek
Blocker- Benjamin/ Shaun
it’s like who will not vote for Asian School players or Combined School players as the better ones unless everyone is thinking that they are not worth to represent the nation.
🙂
dunno leh, i just felt that they r more zai from the way they play haha
to lame. y u prefer qingshan n shaun? haha. i prefer benjamin n daryl. haha.
Daryl’s supporters alot eh? they don’t give qingshan a chance to overtake him.
what?! how come qingshan suddenly so many votes -.- i thought benjamin’s better? (:
haha. clarence? ytss? u mite joking. haha.
CLARENCE LEE. Open spiker. #7 Yishun Town
:D:D
Wth, Anwar and Lawrence asian school player doesn’t get vote inside the best 7 while the top 2 players currently which i don’t know got voted so much. Please vote for the both of them, Anwar and Lawrence are frightening when they are playing inside.
i agree with hillgrove that Justin is best for Subset, Weizhi best for Libero and Anwar for Setter. But Melvin and Kaiyuan shld be the best 2 spikers instead. For middle i really doubt because Benjamin,Shaun,Daryl and Qingshan are equally good. If i really have to choose, i’ll prefer Shaun and Qingshan (=
I think the best 7 players should be Melvin & Lawrence for open, Benjamin & Daryl for middle, Anwar for setter, Justin for subset and Weizhi for Libero. Someone vote for Lawrence and Anwar please, why qingshan so many votes? i thought he’s around Benjamin down there one.
Daryl is Owning
lol qing shan is qiang man
Daryl Lee’s a good player. Don’t judge him by the school, he’s real good player.
