Ed’s note: If you would like to share your game story, please feel free to email us. It’s usually difficult for a photographer to shoot and then write about a game.

Ed's note: If you recognise yourself or your team mates in any of the photos, feel free to leave the names behind in the comments section and we will update the captions accordingly. Thanks!
well said Ex CJCian
Hey jjcian.
You had time to type out a 299words comment while what we are asking is a report that contain 100words. If you spent more time concentrating on the game and writing down notes while you see me holding my camera photographing the match, i believe you would possibly come up with a 1000 word article which i would gladly credit it to you to tag along with my photos.
Honestly speaking, my language isnt fantastic, maybe i would say its not good at all. I hate writing reports but i like to cover events. Even writing captions for the photo will take me quite some time. Yes, Lousy. I admit, I’m lousy at writing reports. And its a fact that i take days to do up a report. You dont pay for my service and you shouldnt demand for it like a baby. Would you offer some help? Write in a report of 100words rather then a freaking childish complain of 299words.
You know what, i think you wont. Taken by the fact that you don’t even reply to your own comment left here. I bet when your friends are saying “wonder who is that jjcian that posted the childish complain comment over at redsports.sg” you would be taken back and curl up like a dried shrimp without uttering a word.
And yeah, not everybody is as polite and as understanding as Uncle Les. So maybe you would like to reflect on what you just commented and tell yourself you did something that wasnt too nice.
Oh.. you said “..and don’t try and think of another comeback”
Sorry but….. Do we need to?
Thanks Eneida, HM. 😉
oh so tt kp kia is gabriel lee in photo 4.
Please understand that he might not be as free as you might imagine. It could be he’d thought to update all at once. Furthermore , it takes time to go through the photos , edit and upload. And its not just one event , there’s alot more , so there could be many sets of photos to go through.
So please..just be patient if you would.
JJcian,
Recognition has to be earned. You don’t gain recognition by whining willfully like a child. If you act like a kid, you deserve to be treated like a kid.
So quit using Les as the bogey man to channel all your angst about the public’s disinterest in what is essentially the Inter-Toto cup of school rugby.
The media reflects public sentiment. While you may be able to paint a facade of glory and bathe in this constructed self-aggrandizement by begging for publicity, you can never feign genuine public interest in a news event. And if the public is truly disinterested about the rugby plate final, you’ll just have face reality and learn to live with it.
It’s fine to hate the message, just don’t shoot the messenger.
i thought this section is suppose to honor names of players and comments on the game
lolz..tat person is so stupid…if he or she is so good…go set up a web and cover al the sport final urself la….
STUPID!!!!!!NO BRAIN!!!!!
JJCian, you bring shame to all the JC students in Singapore. Let’s see, maybe if Uncle Les didn’t set up Red Sports 1yr ago, maybe you wouldn’t need to give your comment now do you?
Make a count, how many sports are there, how many games are going on concurrently in a day? I sometimes co-ordinate the events for the Red Sports volunteers so I know. We don’t have enough volunteers to go around. Here, we try our best to cover as many games as we can. But you over there make such disheartening comments to make us wonder why we bother to continue.
Even though we have people covering events, they still need time to process pictures, draft stories, get the post approved etc. And fyi, none of us here are full time staff. We have students, teachers and people from all walks of life volunteering. We have full time jobs to do, and handling Red Sports is not an easy job. The story might have been done by Cheng Cong but it still needs to go through a few people before it’s posted up. There are so many things to do, one of them entertaining brats like you.
Uncle Les has a family to take care of. I think if there is something for him to do which can earn money to feed his kids (and later run the site), I’m sure that will be his priority.
Why not you start your own website and cover school sports? If you can manage to cover as many as, or even close to the number of sports Uncle Les covers, then I respect you.
I put you up to the challenge. Why don’t you write in to The Straits Times and ask why they did no coverage of the Plate final. Even if they did, was it ONE picture they put up?
We encourage adult like discussion, not mindless battering. If you want to put forth your point, do it in an adult like manner. Don’t hide behind your nickname.
If you want people to stop treating you as a kid, then stop behaving like one.

Let’s all appreciate all the effort that Uncle Les has spent to matintain this site. Looking at the newspaper that we read daily, how many stories covered are school sports stories? There is probably a maximum of 3 a day?In fact, most of the days, none of the school sports is reported. But look, this site is covering more than 3 stories a day. The TV does NOT report any school sports AT ALL. Forget about the radio.
Right now the problem is, there are more than one sports event happening almost everyday. But how many of us are out there helping to cover the stories? There are really very few.
So, Instead of complaining that this story is not up, that story is not up, why don’t you, JJcian, help to cover story AND apreciate what uncle Les has done for us?
first of all i think those that were making hell alot of noise at the comments section for this article must have been cjc ruggers or maybe just neutrals, coz we jj ruggers were kinda sad we lost, no one wants to see an article of them losing right?
and jjcian, relax la maybe he was busy wat. now that its up, enjoy it. its true that plates are not as coveted, the standard is indeed somewhat lower than the cup. we gotta accept that. u rather watch champs league or UEFA cup? S-league or EPL? no offense to the leagues, but its a question of the standards.
[…] comment is with reference to the plate final between Jurong Junior College and Catholic Junior […]
JJCian. Why are you so like that, why not you start a website and cover sports story by yourself.
Stop whining and wallowing in self pity, reflects badly on Singaporean society especially when you have enough free time to type such a long comment.
Thank you for your stinging comment, which leads me to add one more time that this is a reader-generated site.
If you send it, we will post it.
Let me say that I did not even go for all the rugby cup finals last year and readers for the cup finals would send me stories.
If folks like you can spend more time writing game reports rather than unleashing comments like these, we would all be better off as a community.
And JJcian, if you can actually state your real name rather than hiding behind a nickname, that would be showing more mettle on your part but I presume that may be asking too much of you at this stage.
First of all, I am not a rugger. I am just unhappy that it took so long for this story to be up. But since it’s up, I thank Mr. Ng Cheng Cong. But you les, you haven’t been helpful at all. My school’s ruggers played hard and played well to get into the Plate Finals. I believed they deserved recognition way earlier than the Cup Finals. However, the Cup Finals were reported just a day after their match and it took 17 days to report our match. The story was also covered by you, and this raises a question. Why weren’t you there at the Plate Finals? It may be just a PLATE final to you, but for our ruggers and cj ruggers, it meant a whole lot more. So can you imagine the pain, coupled by the lack of recognition, our ruggers felt? I am a close friend of one of the ruggers, and I was told by him that he felt that the Plates are not taken seriously at all. And that after all the injuries suffered by both teams during the run to the Plate Final, he thought that we deserved more credit. So I believe I’m speaking on behalf of the whole JJ team and the CJ team.
Lastly, I think you should not treat us like small children. “Next year I’ll be telling the volunteers to go cover another game/sport to save themselves the abuse.” That sentence sounds like a petty comeback and we’re not buying it. As this is only a Plate Final, I dare you to try the same move on the Cup Final. Try waiting a long time before publishing. I guarantee you will get flamed, possibly worse than this.
Thank you and don’t try and think of another comeback.
THANKS! dont angry la…
chillllllll
So where are the ruggers complaining about the fact this story isn’t up?
I don’t hear any word of thanks. And I’m not asking on my behalf, but on behalf of the contributor above.
Usually I don’t bother but the complaints regarding this story I remember because they were particularly rude.
Next year I’ll be telling the volunteers to go cover another game/sport to save themselves the abuse.
