VOTING ENDED JULY 1st
Hi hockey players and sports fans,
Thanks for taking part in the poll and for taking the time to piece the 11 together. Now it seems there is a slight disagreement over who the top 11 are by position. The confusion stems from the formation. One reader, based on the votes, put together the following RedSportsXI:
Joyene (#1, GK, SAJC, poll rank 10th)
Polly Lim (#11, left back, SAJC, 11th)
Yusheng (#18, center back, VJC, 6th)
Petrina De Souza (#31, center back, MI, 3rd)
Nadrah (#10, centre half, SAJC, 2nd)
Laura Tan (#16, centre half, VJC, 4th)
Ong Ying Ying (#18, centre half, SAJC, 8th)
Marissa Too (#4, right wing, NJC, 7th)
Hitomi Toh Hui En (#7, left winger, SAJC, 5th)
Chung Siyi (#12, forward, RJC, 1st)
Christie Cheng (#15, forward, SAJC, 9th)
Another reader, following the 4-4-2 formation, put up the following, again based on the polls:
Joyene (#1, GK, SAJC, poll rank 10th)
Polly Lim (#11, left back, SAJC, 11th)
Andrina Lee (#3, right back, SAJC, 21st)
Yusheng (#18, center back, VJC, 6th)
Melissa Chua (#19, centre back, SAJC, 13th)
Winnie Soh (#17, left half, SAJC, 14th)
Estee Wu (#10, right half, VJC, 23rd)
Nadrah (#10, centre half, SAJC, 2nd)
Laura Tan (#16, centre half, VJC, 4th)
Chung Siyi (#12, forward, RJC, 1st)
Hitomi Toh Hui En (#7, left winger, SAJC, 5th)
Another formation, 1-3-3-3, yields the following:
Joyene (#1, GK, SAJC, poll rank 10th)
Yusheng (#18, center back, VJC, 6th)
Polly Lim (#11, left back, SAJC, 11th)
Melissa Chua (#19, centre back, SAJC, 13th)
Pamela Chua (#3, centre back, NJC, 15th)
Nadrah (#10, centre half, SAJC, 2nd)
Laura Tan (#16, centre half, VJC, 4th)
Ong Ying Ying (#18, centre half, SAJC, 8th)
Chung Siyi (#12, forward, RJC, 1st)
Hitomi Toh Hui En (#7, left winger, SAJC, 5th)
Marissa Too (#4, right wing, NJC, 7th)
Another reader has the following variation:
Joyene (#1, GK, SAJC, poll rank 10th)
Petrina De Souza (#31, center back, MI, 3rd)
Yusheng (#18, center back, VJC, 6th)
Polly Lim (#11, left back, SAJC, 11th)
Nadrah (#10, centre half, SAJC, 2nd)
Laura Tan (#16, centre half, VJC, 4th)
Ong Ying Ying (#18, centre half, SAJC, 8th)
Hitomi Toh Hui En (#7, left winger, SAJC, 5th)
Marissa Too (#4, right wing, NJC, 7th)
Chung Siyi (#12, forward, RJC, 1st)
Christie Cheng (#15, forward, SAJC, 9th)
Now, I shan’t even try to figure out which formation should take precedence over another. I’ll just say that it’s great that you have all taken the effort to take part in this poll to support your teammates and your friends. The aim of this poll, this post, this website is to encourage student athletes and we hope this poll goes some way in doing that. Congrats to all of you who made it into the RedSportsXI regardless of formation and we hope one day some of you will go on to represent our nation and do us proud.

the more commonly played formation should be 1-3-3-3 in girls hockey
so there should be 1 last man or i guess its called center back here… but since most schools play with a flexible formation system, i feel it is only fair that the position of last man is to be grouped together with center backs.
so if i’m not wrong…
forwards:
Chung Siyi
Hitomi Toh
Marissa Too
midfields:
Nadra
Laura Tan
Ong Ying Ying
backs:
Yusheng
Polly Lim
Melissa
Pamela Chua
GK:
Joyene
btw, i group according to top 3 forwards/midfields and top 4 backs, regardless of left, right or center position they play
There’s also Petrina, who’s position played is unknown, so i guess if her position is made known, she’ll replace either one on the top 11.
what is that you just put up? its not according to poll?
