Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, June 20, 2008 – It was double joy for Unity Sec at the T-Net Cup final as they emerged as both boys and girls C Division champions. Both teams won by outlasting the rest of the competition in a series of matches throughout the June holidays.
The Unity boys, in particular, followed up an impressive 70-60 win over Anglican High the day before to outclass Raffles Institution in the final 60-25.
The final match was as good as over as early as the first quarter when Unity jumped to a whopping 20-4 lead. The result was never in doubt as the West Zone powerhouse went on to increase their lead throughout all the four quarters.
Top scorer Peter Soo (#5) of Unity Sec was pleased with his team’s performance throughout the competition. He contributed 15 points to his team’s success and was also the top scorer in the match against Anglican High as well.
“It’s a good result and we are proud of our achievements. However we are already looking forward to the start of the zone competition where we will face other rivals like Jurong Secondary,” he said, adding that the team “still have quite a few things to improve on.”
Incidentally, his twin brother is also a member, wearing jersey #7. Talk about brotherhood within the Unity team!
Anglican High cruised to a 53-26 win over Catholic High in the other match to achieve third in the competition.
