Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Friday, July 11, 2008 – Chew Hanyu (#28) of CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ won the gold for the B Division Girls 1500m event at the 49th Inter-school Track & Field Championships with a time of 5 minute 12.03 seconds. Hanyu led the pack throughout the whole run, persevering to eventually come in first. Her timing of 5m 9.98s was a few seconds slower than her timing last year where she came in second in the same event. However, she managed to overcome last year’s winner Melody Leow (#89) this time around.

Melody (#89) seemed a little off form, as she came in second with a timing of 5m 19.03s. The Singapore Sports School student was almost 10 seconds slower than her timing last year.

Ramandeep Kaur (#191) from National Junior College completed the trio with a timing of 5m 20s. Ramandeep was fifth last year where she came in with a timing of 5m 38.52s.
