A Division Floorball Boys: Tampines Sports Complex, Thursday, July 10, 2008 – Meridian Junior College (MJC) continues scoring frenzy with a 8-2 win over Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC). Nonetheless, despite facing the floorballing giant MJC, ACJC put up a great fight and even remarkably denied all goals by MJC in the first period. In fact, ACJC #4 became the first person to score against MJC this season in the 12:29 min and allowed ACJC to lead for the whole of the first period.
Alas, lady luck did not continue shining on ACJC. Merely seconds into the second period, MJC had started their onslaught of goals. MJC (Winston Cheong) #21 opened accounts by scoring in the 00:20 min. Goals trickled in with accurate shots by MJC Glendon Phua (#20), Yeow Di Qiang (#7) and Toh Zuan Ming (#9).
Although he had already scored 2 goals in the second period, it was seemingly not enough for MJC Glendon Phua (#20) who continued his rampage with goals in the 00:34, 05:17 and 09:43 min in the third period. Kudos to ACJC Baoren (#15) for managing to volley in a goal in the 00:41 min in spite of MJC’s tight defense. Although MJC continues their campaign in style, credit has to be given to ACJC for breaking down the formidable defending champion MJC and showing that MJC is not as infallible as they seemed beforehand.
In the previous match, Temask Junior College (TJC) ended their season off with a bang. In their last match of the season, they created history by winning their first ever floorball game competitively with a 5-1 win over Innova Junior College (IJC). TJC #9 kicked off the game with a goal in the 6:07 min. Goals continue to flow in the second period with TJC #19 And #15 scoring in the 1:06 and 9:30 min respectively. The game ended with a beautiful third period with 2 more goals from #19 and #9 again. IJC’s only stab at winning the game was by #29 in the 14:16 min which was way too late.
This Wednesday, 16th July at Tampines Sports Hall:
MJC will face their greatest challenge up to date when they face rivals YJC to battle for the spot on the top of the league table at 1.30pm.
IJC and ACJC will play their last match against each other at 11am.
Writer’s Note: Unfortunately for these four teams, we are unable to provide neither the match reports nor photos of the games as we were not there. In fact, we went down to Republic Polytechnic (RP) with the intention to cover all 4 games only to find out that the matches had moved to Tampines Sports Hall (TSH). This was shock #1 for us. (And I was kicking myself for being such a ‘blur sotong’ and spending so much time on traveling. I kicked myself a second time when I found out about the scores… I missed two exciting matches! Details about the matches will be much appreciated!)
Then we traveled all the way down to TSH (in time for the two later matches, match reports will be up tomorrow!) to get shocked a second time. We were appalled at the state of the floorball court (if it can even be called a floorball court) and the lack of supporters seats. I really wonder how it will be like for the semi-finals and finals. I did suggest to the organizers to try getting the universities’ courts, (as the university students are on holidays now)so hopefully, if there is another change of venue, please inform us. Thanks.
P.S. More photos on the ACJC vs TJC are up here. And the photos on YJC vs IJC are up here. Help me name the unnamed players!
Editors Note: Names for the players mentioned in the updates will be very much appreciated.
The referees take things at first glance lol. They see three-quarters of the jersey number and that is it 🙂 So sometimes the numbers are wrong haha.
However, they seem to have a knack for spotting fouls and any sort of floorball error
Hey Christy, Feel free to take the MJC floorballer report and make it a post on its own.
yah someone please confirm that before i lose all faith in the referee match stats… Aren’t they suppose to provide the most accurate stats? But I guess the game is too fast sometimes even for the referee!
OMG! thank you MJC floorballer! I totally enjoyed reading the article… Do join Red Sports! You can contribute some great writing here!

Sorry yet again
Great stuff MJC floorballer! Christy, you can start a new article with this.. 🙂
I feel sorry for the floorballers having to play at TSH! It is my least favourite sports hall during the days when I was donning school colours (not floorball though, there wasn’t inter-school floorball back then)! The courts were very, very slippery, a nightmare for my sport!
