im not being biased or anyth n neither do i know how well the other players played since i’ve never seen them played…but yea i feel tt edward’s fighting spirit in the recent match against YJ is noteworthy. despite having a bleeding wound, he continued to perform his best and tt’s something extremely commendable =)
aiyo are ur stupid or wad, tis kind of poll is lyddat one la how to blame..take american idol for example, u really tink its the best singer gets first ah? judges haf zero influence to the results but the american audiences haf 100% voting power, hence of cuz its the most popular or has the most frens win la..so wad can u do if dennis is popular? for fun only “WHY SO SERIOUS?” quoted from the joker =)
I totally agree.. I think some of the players are way too underrated here at the moment:
Bao Ren, Ding Jun, Kok Liang, Jeremy, Faris and Fauzan all deserve to be among the top names of the voting list, not caught around the middle and even the bottom tier. 🙂
just a reminder that we should be voting for the best floorballers! dont just vote for your own schoolmates/friends. chuck all biasness and vote for those who really performed well during the matches. dont be influenced by what others say.
MAY THE BEST OF THE BEST TRIUMPH in this poll.
happy voting everyone! (:
hey diqiang, you get your deal. =)
hey readers, head over to
http://redsports.sg/2008/07/24/redsportsvi-a-division-girls-floorball-2008/
to nominate the girls.
@Seasoned floorballer
i must admit that #13 from RJC(jeremy i think), have remarkable skills and composure. Also, he’s from the national hockey team.(if my sources are correct?)
Therefore, i agree with you that #13 from RJC really do deserve more votes. so people, pls vote for jeremy(#13) from RJC!
Also,
to anyone that thinks that we’re just getting our friends to vote for us, i’ve got to say, i don’t really have 95(for now) good friends in my msn and handphone list to ask them to vote for me.
but i do agree that this may be more of a popularity vote rather that the fact that it’s based on skills.
btw, uncle les, maybe you can get the coaches to poll too, and create another list of ‘who are the best 6 floorballers’ to satisfy the readers.
Yeow Di Qiang
MJC FLOORBALL ’08
christy, how about creating a new article for us to nominate the girls?
the comment box wouldn’t be so messy, and i’d help you consolidate the names of the nominees.
deal?
A lesson in democracy too. We’d like all the votes to go to those with the best talent. But they will sometimes go to the popular, the good-looking, the silver-tongued, and the underdog.
I would take the poll for what it is – an acknowledgment of a player’s skill and his popularity.
A poll based purely on skill is possible but that would mean I would only poll the 10 A Division coaches. I’m sure that would be an interesting exercise in itself but I don’t have the time to go ask them.
Also, you all would have no say and what would be the fun in that?
In any case, what you have said is an instructive life lesson in itself. Why? Because, in life, the prize does not always go to the the swiftest, the strongest, or the smartest.
I am seriously disappointed with the current standings of the top 6 players. It seems the title of the article should read” Who are the 6 floorballers with the most fans…” The results of the voting are clearly biased and a clear indication that schools are voting for their own school players in a bid to raise the standings of their schoolmates.
My basis is not unfounded.
Case 1
Both captains of the VJ and MJ , Dennis Wong and Glendon Phus were undoubtedly among the best forwards playing in the A div. Yet the gap between their votes is remarkably wide, nearing unbelievable.
If people did really vote on the basis on “best” which clearly means in perspective of the player’s skills and contributions on the court, then correct me if I am wrong the votes for both captain should be quite close. But since this is not the case, it would mean that there are certain individuals who vote for Dennis and not Glendon. Clearly the biasness is evident.
Case 2
Similar to the case above, the defenders will be my examples.
Edward of VJ , Di Qiang of MJ, Jeremy of RJ, Ding Jun of YJ
All 4 are great defenders who haved played a pivotal strengthing the defence of their respective teams. Yet the gaps between their votes is once again a strange. Despite scoring 2 goals in the 3rd and 4th placing to help YJ win 3rd, Ding Jun’s votes are a shadow of Edward’s, a mere 58 compared to the 117 that Edward has at the time of comment. It is seriously rubbish. In the finals . Both Jeremy and Di qiang were outstanding on the court and their performance would even contest that of Glendon. Yet their votes in comparision are way of with Jeremy garnering a miserable 24 votes out of a total of 431 voters. Once againt this is rubbish.
To the editor of the article, I understand your good intentions of bringing recognition to the playes who have performed beyond the call of duty during this season’s A div , but studying the trend, 1 can easily guess that by 22nd of August, which is the closing of the polls, the top 6 would most certainly Not comprise of the 6 playes who performed the best during the A divs but rather those who have more friends to vote for them.
I sincerely hope the future voters will vote according to the theme of the poll in mind rather then just to boost ur friends reputation.
Thank You
Gary Ding #7 YJC Forward
Ivan #1 YJC Goalkeeper
Regarding all the questions for a girls poll, it is possible but only if readers can help us consolidate the names.
Its tough for us to sift through so many comments and look for the names. And there are so many repeated nominations that it doesn’t help.
Volunteers, anyone? =)
i must really take my hat off you, Yeow Di Qiang, for you can speak say all those things even though you’ve just lost the a div match today. i bet, if i were you, i’ll just start going ard blaming everyone. you’ve displayed great amt of sportsmanship.
SALUTE TO YOU.
wow, thanks audience, for your vote and your positive comment about me, whoever you are. can i ask, if it’s possible to create a poll for the a’div girls floorball championship also? There’re quite a few girls asking for it.

VOTE FOR MJC #7 DEFENDER!
i must say he played really well today, maybe even overshadowing all of the other not-so-on-form players.
He’ve brought the ball up to the opponent’s half and controlled it, looking for attempts to make the pass in for the tap in goals, but only to no avail. Also, if anyone realised, in the third period, he ran like crazy in chase of the ball. i think he played forward, even though he always ran back to help with the defense. and i believe all the other audience can practically see his thirst to equalise the game, and he’s the only one running up and down and up and down the court other than the usual glendon. Halfway through the third period, he made an extremely hard shot from midcourt towards the RJC goalpost, but it was saved by the RJC goalkeeper.
Once again, like the semi’s, MJC showed how much they wanted to win. However, in the finals, they probably missed out on their luck, which is evident on the many tap-in misses and the shots which flew all around the goalpost.
If you’d ask me to vote on credit of performance, i believe he really deserves my vote for all his hard work.
Also, i heard he’s new to floorball, with no previous experiences, hence making his play even more commendable.
I believe that you’ve got alot of potential in the field of floorball, and i really hope that you continue pursuing floorball in your future years.
YOU’VE REALLY PLAYED VERY VERY WELL.
ang jia wei is #18, forward : D
lol. i remember one of my friend told me that a player from MI showed temper at the bench by kicking a bottle or a tin can. hope he is not up there.
marc #28 YJC defender =)
hey christy sorry! i don think i would be able to give the details so clearly. I think you can ask from others? maybe some other reporters or friends that u all have that were present on that day? coz the match was full of spectators.
Anyway i agree with passerby! lets vote based on performances ppl! We have to vote with the right criteria in order to ensure ppl respect this voting. For example, i have to say i disagree with the current ranking of IJC defender Ang Kok Liang. Sorry but no offences. I seriously believe there are way better players den him but getting lesser votes.
Well i have said my piece
Jonathan Heng (#13, VJC, [forward])
Jonathan Tan (#9, VJC, [forward])
Eric Tay (#1, VJC, [goalkeeper])
Soffian (#[3], VJC, defender)
Faris (#16, RJC, [defender])
Marc (#?, YJC, [defender])
Darren Choong (#33, NYJC, [forward])
tried to fill up the question marks as much as i could.. feel free to correct any mistakes.
