Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, July 16, 2008 – Hwa Chong Institution continued their traditional domination in track and field when they won three out of six championship titles: A Division Girls, B and C Division Boys.
Only the girls of Raffles Junior College came closest to threatening them when they finished with 157 points compared to the HCI total of 183. The largest gulf was established by the HCI C Division boys when they finished with 174 points, while second-placed Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) only managed 108 points. Even though the ACS(I) C Division boys had only one less first-place finish with five compared to HCI with six, the strength and breadth of the HCI squad told as they had enough finishers throughout the field to pick up championship points.
In all, 18 new meet records were set at the 49th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships, with last Friday dubbed “Fantastic Friday” when 11 records fell in a single day of competition. The Singapore Sports School led the way with eight new meet records while HCI accounted for six.

Oh you’re welcome lyc. Thanks. Will add the 4x100m relay pics soon. 😉
Hey Les, just wanted to say a big thank you for covering the event :)! Looking forward to seeing more photos! Anw dun worry ya, it’s impossible to completely cover an event such and the track finals…and i guess everyone can and will have their own interpretation of the report. Honestly, I would say this report is already far more factual and unbaised than many seen in mainstream media today. I am quite sure the atheletes themselves are unaffected…
I’ll add the relay pictures. I’m swamped with stories. Track and field is great to shoot but there are sooooo many pictures from one event.
Oh dear…when I wrote this post, I knew it was quite boring because I was just stating facts. But even then, it seems to generate so much heat not so much by what I did write, but what I did not.
Fascinating.

don’t think a 3rd place finish is exactly “running away" with the titles..

why no mention of how hwachong got 3rd for a boys? raffles got 1st
ron, u r exactly right to say HCI is d track N field superpower, n hence dun need to covet for recognition.
d one who is hard up for recognition is your raffles compatriot asking uncle Les y no mention of how raffles got 1st?
LOL!
I would appreciate it greatly if you read d posts with comprehension- so where is my insistence that d rafflesians r complaining we beat them?
Sure, ‘running away’ is a clever pun used by uncle Les, but sadly, a phrase misconstrued by raffles.
D reputation of a school is not built upon words bro.
haha edgy what’s there to expose? winning and losing has purely nothing to do with arrogance. it only concerns skill and practice.
besides the article was written by les, and not a rafflesian, so why are you insisting that the rafflesians are complaining that hci beat them to it? “Run away” is simply a clever pun used here and holds no negative feelings.
why so hard up for recognition for hci? everyone already knows that hci’s a superpower.
i would appreciate it greatly if you’ll speak with thought and discretion bro. the reputation of schools is at stake here.
Oh yes there are more relay pics coming up. Just haven’t gotten to posting them up yet ; )
can i ask are there any more photos? Especially the relay ones…
Thanks
