Yio Chu Kang Stadium, Tuesday, August 5, 2008 – St. Andrew’s Secondary beat Raffles Institution 11-10 in a C Division semi-final shrouded by controversy over two disallowed RI tries.
Commented reader Raffles: “Unfortunately it's sad news from me. Biased refereeing caused us to lose to Saints. We scored 2 tries, and Saints scored 1. 2 more tries were supposed to be ours, but the biased referee did not allow those. Saints won purely with penalties, again biased refereeing.”
“One point. WE DESERVED TO BEAT THEM. WE DESERVED TO FACE ACS(I) IN THE FINALS. Bloody referee!”
Saints led 6-5 (2 penalties to a try) at half-time.
In the second half, Saints scored a try against the run of play to lead 11-5. In the final seconds, RI scored a try to make it 10-11 but failed in their conversion attempt.
In the other semi-final, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) beat Bedok Town Secondary in a one-sided match with the mercy rule coming into play before full time. ACS(I) won 88-7 but not before a Bedok Town player ran the length of the field to score for his team.
ACS(I) will meet the Saints in the C Division Rugby Championship final at Yio Chu Kang Stadium next week on August 15th. Kick off is 1645hrs.
In other action, St. Joseph’s Institution beat Damai Secondary 22-5 and will now face either Pioneer Secondary or Anglo-Chinese School (Barker) in the plate final.
Hey guys the guy who scored a try In Btss Vs ACSI isnt a winger,he is an out center…and im the winger in BTSS Vs Acsi..i was the guy who got high-tackled and flew..(i think)…the Acsi Out-center was really tough using his arm swinging into my neck..i was stunt..And btw sry that my team doesn’t have high hope in winning in the ACSI match they were really confident that they will lose after getting trash by them 80-0 in the 1st round…all of us crack..when we first step in the field haha..=)
Let the better team win!!!SJI or ACSB who will it be???
Can’t you see that during the semis, the whole Raffles Rugby Parents Association came down to support the team. Please provide evidence before accusing others.
RAFFLES LOST AGAIN?! OH WAIT.. No suprise.
Hahahah cause its what they do when they win? SA never prepares anything cause they rarely win.. OUCCHH
Ac barker will win the plate, SJI parents/students and go try to take pictures of ac players “hurting” sji players
Haha acs parents are nicer and better than ri parents who dont even show up. Stupid. Maybe you’re just one of the poor kids who’s parents never go to suport you or MAYBE even a parent yourself who cannot even compare to an acs parent. :O
haha.obviously you don’t know any acs parents or have not been to their game.they prepare food for the opposing team, even saints.
Do your best BTSS! I really look forward to the match, let’s play our hearts out and enjoy the last 60mins of c div rugby!
Please do not underestimate the RI reserves. Every Rafflesian has the same spirit ans we will show it in our last match of the season.
parents: you obviously know nothing or …. youre a rafflesian, in that case…good luck for 3rd place…not first…
dude not all raffles people lool “like a bunch of sissies with thick glasses and blur looks.” don’t judge by school. they played a good clean game, they worked their butts off, all while maintaining their grades. good effort from them all in all. ACS will definitely win this year.
Kiat, you guys will win ACS(BR). I am sure of it.
LOL.
haha, chillak lah.
xD
sji-acsbr 12/8 @ saints.
looking forward to a great game of hard, robust rugby from both side!
(:
The comments below about parents/coaches are distasteful and childish – we’d appreciate if Red Sports readers would refrain from such remarks, and keep their commentary about the game.
I wonder if ACSI are going to be un-original again and copy the ABs haka… 🙂
Pretty sure they would.
Coaches
ACSI – Pain in the butt and very ungentlemanly
RI – Sure has a big butt
SAS – Stubborn and too much pride
Rugby Parents
ACSI – Worst of the lot.not only ‘how-lian’ and arrogant, also very rude and low class, each parent sucking up to a richer parent.
SAS – Rude but not as bad as ACSI
RI – Friendly and polite
Once agame ends, it ends. Biased or not, dirty or not, evil or not, cheat or not etc.. it doesn’t matter. Its only a game after all. These are kids giving their all in a game for the school. There will always be animosity among the schools, just remember at the end of the day, we are all SINGAPOREAN.Important thing is the boys learn something out of it.
Yo SJI deserved to beat saints… we played badly against RI all in all RI are better but saints more confident ACS(I) are already champions whether they play well or not they will win. Saints dont deserve to be in top 4.. but hey everyone is lucky… sometimes twice in a row..
