Yio Chu Kang Stadium, Tuesday, August 5, 2008 – St. Andrew’s Secondary beat Raffles Institution 11-10 in a C Division semi-final shrouded by controversy over two disallowed RI tries.
Commented reader Raffles: “Unfortunately it's sad news from me. Biased refereeing caused us to lose to Saints. We scored 2 tries, and Saints scored 1. 2 more tries were supposed to be ours, but the biased referee did not allow those. Saints won purely with penalties, again biased refereeing.”
“One point. WE DESERVED TO BEAT THEM. WE DESERVED TO FACE ACS(I) IN THE FINALS. Bloody referee!”
Saints led 6-5 (2 penalties to a try) at half-time.
In the second half, Saints scored a try against the run of play to lead 11-5. In the final seconds, RI scored a try to make it 10-11 but failed in their conversion attempt.
In the other semi-final, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) beat Bedok Town Secondary in a one-sided match with the mercy rule coming into play before full time. ACS(I) won 88-7 but not before a Bedok Town player ran the length of the field to score for his team.
ACS(I) will meet the Saints in the C Division Rugby Championship final at Yio Chu Kang Stadium next week on August 15th. Kick off is 1645hrs.
In other action, St. Joseph’s Institution beat Damai Secondary 22-5 and will now face either Pioneer Secondary or Anglo-Chinese School (Barker) in the plate final.
to outsider
i know that u r indirectly saying tat acsi is unbeatable…i agree with it…but i m jus givin confidence to btss…i can c that the way acsi play is superb…i m jus sayin tat btss didn’t play their 100%…they came in to the field half-hearted…thinkin that they will lose no matter wad happens…i can see it from their facial expression…n aft acsi scored a lot of times…btss looked like they are gonna give up…(no offence to btss)
hope u understand my msg
everyone say acsi good in sports while forgetting that (other than ib) their academics worse than bedok town….
To Outsider , Coach Of Btss Was not down on that day , Because he had some important matters to attend too in malaysia.
Please do not see things in your own view.
to tohkiatsheng,
Thats the most blatant overstatement and misrepresentation about your coach.
Play ‘clean’??? -joke!!!
Tackle ‘HARD’ – agree.
The school rugby fraternity knows what he is capable of. So you better not open ‘the pandora box ‘
naive pixies,
Even if btss play their hearts out, theres no way they can win ACSI (no offence to btss ). look at saints playg their guts out agst ACSI, and whats the score?
I can only infer that if btss play their hearts out against ri and saints, btss may well own them.
So btss, play your hearts out agst ri.
I hope your coach will be there for you. ( so much for being examplary and responsible )
old sa boy,
Whatever ACSI does or not, un-original or copy, its NONE of your concern! I dont think they cast a care to you.
Since you so busybody, go see if you can help your c ruggers lah.
But then again, it aint gonna matter, its a ‘gonna matter’ [ punt intended,(thats for old sa boy’s understanding), for the rest of the readers, its pun. ]
HAHAHA, LOL!!!
Some just never learn
Anyone knows when is the 3rd/4th placing for btss vs ri??
to observer, not so-called. they ARE the national champions at the u13 and u11 level. do not discredit their achievements. it’s your kind of behavior that people tag ac along with arrogance. you may disagree with g_tong. but the players never did nothing for you to doubt their achievements. leave them out of the picture.
BTW, ACS did NOT copy the haka. they have permission from the New Zealand rugby union when they beat them at the World Minis many years back at South Africa to perform the haka.
LOL.
thanks, John.
(:
hahas, but who knows, anything might happen in a rugby match.
😀
just play your hearts out but play clean, hard, robust rugby.
something that our coach taught us.
anyways, looking forward to the plate finals on 12th august’08 at saints.
all the best to all!
😀
i noticed smth…the yck stadium is painted in colours of acsi(blue n yellow)
to ‘btss blind-winger u-14’
ur in center is so small but very fast…it was amazing how u all broke thru acsi defense line…btw…the hit that u got was a deadly hit…i don’t noe why acsi did tat whether it is on purpose or not, they should have not do it cos one of their skool values was to be a gentleman(no offence to acsi)…i was there watching u all playin….btw..i saw u all like didn’t play the way u all played against acsbr..u all were much aggressive in the acsbr game…all of u like giving up alr aft the acsi put in many tries…if all of u play ur hearts out,u all will probably lose by a smaller margin or might even win acsi…btw…heard tat ur coach didn’t came down during the acsi match…is it true?
For your info, ASCI cannot give too many dsa. U cant get confidence
thru dsa.
G_tong
I would like to say again, Saints boys approached ACSI. ACSI is good not becos of your Saints boys coming over. It is our coaches tactic and the coaching skills.
Saints took alot of Neighbourdhood boys who were all very good but
what were the results? Did you do better than ACSI in the C div games? And dont forget that your sch is the so called champion in
the primary level, and dont tell us that all your boys came over to ACSI? Let me tell you, every year, not only your primary boys app
ACS, even your present secondary sch boys but too bad they were from normal stream.
Please accept the fact.
this is childish, both team had their chances, raffles had a series of penalties in the 22 but didn’t take it. how can you say that you were the better team if you couldn’t even convert those chances into points.
st andrews backs were SO SMALL! ( quite cute actually ) like primary school kids playing in the cdiv and this is by far the worst st andrews team i’ve seen in years.
acs, you’re in a class of your own man. god send
The Devil…I don’t think the RI coaches will do well in BTSS. They have yet to achieve anything at C or B div so i don’t see why you need to rave about them.
Rugby..why do you say that Saints coaches are stubborn and too proud? We have a team of passionate coaches who have inspired hundreds of boys.
BTW, how many of the ACSi players were from SA junior?
to non acsian
well said,..there is a very very fine line between cocky and confidence. ACS is a fine example of confidence for everything we do, we strive to do it better than the last,..for “The Best is Yet To Be”
of cos no regrets everyday win.dsa like siao
AC has been always been named the arrogant and snobbish. It just that you dont know us well unless you join us. Many parents were
very worried before their boys go to AC.
Till date, all these parents have no regrets sending their boys here. It is very different from what they heard from outside. You can check with those boys who have transferred from other schs, they will tell you their experience, even the parents.
Dont condemn others if you dont know them well.
AC boys are not arrogant, it just that they walk with CONFIDENCE.
It’s just a nature in them.
Sry i meant the guy who you guys thought a winger who scored a try for BTSS In BTSS VS Acsi is an In Center…
Good Luck BTSS…in RI match..hope you guys do your best…Even if you guys isnt smart you guys always have teamwork and trust in each other… To ACSI,SAINTS,RI..Brains doesn’t always means ur the better one’s…no offence..
