Update by Les Tan
Beijing, Saturday, August 9, 2008 – Quah Ting Wen of Singapore failed to get past the first round of qualifying in the 400m individual medley at the Beijing Olympics. However, the silver lining is that her time of 4 minutes 51.25 seconds is a personal best and national record, eclipsing the record of 4:51.87 set by Joscelin Yeo in 1999.
Her timing was not good enough to beat the eighth-fastest qualifier Hannah Miley of Great Britain who finished in 4min 36.56sec.
I wish i could swim as fast as you
Congratulations on your PB Ting Wen. You’ve done yourself and your nation proud in tough circumstances leading up to the Olympics. Well done on meeting the target Coach Ang has set for you at this Games.
