Hwa Chong Institution recently lost a game 52-53 to Woodlands Ring Secondary which cost them their C Division campaign. A last second 3-pointer by Aldric Hu of Woodlands Ring was ruled good even though time had run out. As we understand it, the appeals committee did not allow the evidence you see below to stand because there was no agreement that any picture or video evidence would be used in the case of a dispute.

About that 3-point shot…
hc will be back.:)
and anyway, the evidence above wasnt submitted i tink.
the video itself with the buzzer sounding was submitted.
but referee sometimes are really biased!
that is what i can say coz i lose games becoz of that too.
ok lets see what is mean to be 0 in a digit?
it can be 0,0.1,0.2,0.3…0.9999sec.
u cannot says he cant shoot the ball when time winds down to 0.
but u can say that he cant shoot the ball when the buzzer SOUNDS.
mayb he did manage to shoot before the buzzer sound?
u cant judge by the photo up there as we cant heard anything from then photo take above
think that the ac should review this matter. and good line calls are essential for most sports.. agree with hci fan..
oioioioi…whats with all this nonsense…its so noisy it even wakes me up from the dead! all u guys hu think that hci should stop being “sore losers” are a bunch of idiots cuz they noe that hci won but jus dun wanna admit it….loserrrsssss….
Haha, their rejection of the video indicates their refusal to admit their mistake. It is outrageous that the Arbitration Committee should choose to reject the use of the video as evidence, when its one of the only pieces of evidence which they could use to review this situation. Thus was the decision to hand the win to WRS instead made based on ‘heart’ or logic? No offense to WRS supporters but I’m subscribing to the idea that they made this decision with biased opinion, without sufficient logical justification.
Anyway, HCI has done a good job. I guess it would be a futile attempt to continue protesting as this would not jolt them back into the National tournament. Hence, I would like to wish HCI good luck for next year. Hopefully they would emerge as a more competitive team from this incident next year.
y’know, sometimes i just think HCI ya’ll are blowing this matter too big, and you all should just calm down, accept that you all lost, move on and stop being sore losers
Hey guys guys, y dont u all just accept the fact that hwa chong lost, i am sure BAS will look into this matter again, for now, they want the national games to contiune and not let this affect any shecduled time, this is what i think.
the video is definitely not editted.
this video can be edited..
but if this is true, i think that the ref shld be sack as this is a crucial game to them and they just lose by unfair judgement
im a china ref and i cnt believe these sg refs are worse thn us./ seriously man, olympics cmin soon so you betta buck up or else yog will be full of china refs
If you are a true sports man and a very visible BAD call , I think you will still argue . If you say you don’t need good calls to win then you might as well abolish the ref’s all together.
What I’d like to see is a written statement by the Arbitration Committee explaining their decision. A one line comment in a news release (evidence not admitted) is not an explanation. The committee’s decision has not ended the controversy. It has only added to it. If you doubt that, then read the comments below.

“if you need good calls by the referees to win the game, maybe you should quit basketball and join other competition where this kind of situation wont happen.”
This makes me laugh so hard. Hais, if you need BAD calls to win the game, then maybe you should find some other activity.
If video evidences cannot pass the appeal, then what can? Maybe we should send the evidence to the PM and see what he said?
THE HEAD OF REFEREES SHOULD STEP DOWN!!!!!!!!! IT’S A NATIONAL DISGRACE GUIDING OUT A BUNCH OF MONKEY REFS!! WHERE IS THE JUSTICE? Made mistakes, no corrections and don’t dare to admit it. Is this how you guide our youths?
i think nowadays the ref are having the “anything la” attitude, they are not serious. The ref should be trained more seriously and more strict. i think there shold be also a 3rd ref and video of every match just like the NBA. Only this will ensure the fairness to every single match and ref can make decisive decisions with the videos (eg: buzzer shots) on the spot. BAS should actually start following the way the NBA officiates
its not called protest.
protesting in Singapore is illegal.
its called “appeal”.
you still dont accept the call?
then go protest again loh, goodluck.
and i dont think real sportsman will argue about the calls made because of thier defeat.
just accept it.
the matter isn’t really about GOOD calls now…its more on calls which ABIDE by the rules and to the lamest extent, fair. How hard can that possibly be? read the rulebook, follow the rule book! i believe that most of the people here think that it is SOOOOOOOOOOO FAIR! and if we were to quit a sport jus cuz it has lousy administations, then 3/4 of singapore’s athletes/sportsmen/players etc would have to quit their sports anyway…(somewhat exagerated tho most of it is true)..
