Beijing, Sunday, August 10, 2008 – Singapore’s women’s pairing of Jiang Yanmei and Li Yujia are through to the badminton quarter-finals of the Women’s Doubles at the Beijing Olympics after dispatching the pair of Eva Lee and Mesinee Mangkalakiri from the United States.
They took just 25 minutes to finish up the match winning both sets 21-12. They went through without being challenged by their opposite numbers, apart from the start of the second set where the USA team held a very brief lead at 5-2. They will now face the 4th-seed Korean pair of Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Kyung Won who beat Chin Eei Hui and Wong Pei Tty of Malaysia.
