St. Andrew’s Junior College, August 30, 2008 – Last year’s Men’s Open Cup runners-up NS Wanderers took home the US$7,000 prize money and the Victoria Bitter Cup when they beat Cobra 10-5 at last month’s Black Midnight 7s rugby event.

In the women’s category, Blacks Power of Singapore and Women Barbarians of Thailand played a heart-stopping Jane Lee Challenge Cup final. Blacks eventually edged the 2007 defending champions 14-10.

There were local and international teams playing in the two day event which spanned a few categories: Victoria Bitter Men's 10s, Women's 7s, Masters Men's 10s, Under-21 Girls 7s, Under-16 Boys 10s and Under-13 Boys 10s.

Showing the way on active ageing, four teams in the Over-40s category kicked off at midnight but played touch rugby instead (it’s active ageing, not ai si ageing (ai si is Hokkien for “want to die”).
