Les (aka Uncle Les, aka founder of Red Sports) was a little surprised when two large brown official-looking envelopes came in the mail for him this week. Opening them, he discovered that Red Sports – specifically Les himself – had been nominated for the POSB Everyday Champions Award. A few days later, another envelope arrived. It was a third nomination.
Les is too shy to tell you himself, so I am telling you on his behalf.
As you know, Les set up Red Sports because he believes that there is a Singapore sports story worth telling. You can read about the Red Sports mission here. He wants this site to fan the flames of a national sporting culture, and remind Singapore athletes that they are important, that this is a special time in their lives and their sporting moments are captured for posterity.
He has been funding this website on his own, and running it full-time (many days overtime). So it’s very encouraging to be acknowledged this way. Heartiest thanks to the three persons who nominated Les. Whether or not he wins, he is very grateful for your kindness.
