Throughout 2008, Red Sports ran different polls for many sports and you readers nominated the players and then voted for them.
At the end of the 2008, we had the Red Sports Young Athlete of the Year poll to top it all off.
Well, now it’s time to party!
We are inviting those who made it to the top of each poll (see below) for the Red Sports Awards Party on Saturday, January 31st, from 7 to 10pm.
We’ll have a token of appreciation for all the poll winners and an extra special prize for the Young Athletes of the Year, Alexandria Wong and Low Feng Hua.
If you’ve ever wanted to find out more about what makes an athlete tick, come and listen as we will be interviewing Alexandria, Feng Hua and basketballer Jabez Su on stage.
National footballer Aleksandar Duric will also be coming for the party and he will be a special guest on stage as well on the night.
If you are interested in coming for the Red Sports Awards Party, there are limited spaces for Red Sports readers.
So if you are a poll winner or would like to come to the party, please contact us by Wednesday, January 28th, at redcrew@redsports.sg to let us know you’re coming on Saturday, January 31st, 2009 from 7:00pm to 10pm.
The party is at the Civil Service Club, Tessensohn Road. It’s a 5 minute walk from Farrer Park MRT. For poll winners, you can bring 2 friends along to come cheer you on.
If you are not on the list, but know of someone on the list of winners below, do let them know. And get them to bring you along!

congrats to those who won, and thank you to those who turned up. We at redsports totally appreciated it.
Hi supporter, I believe that winners who are aware of the award and are sincere about receiving their award would have gotten in touch with us, for instance, there were 6 winners who had sent representatives to collect the award for them because of various reasons they couldn’t come, and we are understanding to that. 🙂
Now that the event is over, I don’t think we will still be pursuing the winners (just mailing the awards to the schools don’t work because quite a handful of athletes have graduated from their schools). But should a winner gets in touch with us now expressing his/her interest to collect the award from us, then that might be a possibility. 🙂
Congratz to all the winners and thanks to all who came down 🙂
i think it would be a good idea to mail the schools the awards for those who couldnt make it:)
wad if the award winners cant attend on that day?will they still get the award some other time?
As you can imagine, it’s a logistics headache to give out the tokens of appreciations to award winners at different times and dates. That’s why we are having the awards night so that everyone can come and get it from us at the same time. I don’t have a full-time crew and office and so it’s not easy to arrange for an alternate date.
I’ll probably save the awards for the winners of the 2009 polls.
Yes i agree. Email the schools that the winners are in.
School always see the “end result”
are there any other sajc and vjc players attending the event?
Hi fan1,
Yes quite a handful of SAJC and VJC athletes have won awards, coax them to come. 😉
Hi fan,
I’m in the midst of contacting the winners directly. 🙂 From my experience working with schools, the relay of information can take some time, so we don’t think its the most efficient way to go about informing the winners through the schools with the event being next week. Not all schools know about us, yet, so they may just thrash the email. Ultimately, schools do not re-open until Wed, so we’ve started approaching the players directly already. Thanks for your concerns. 🙂
so is redsports going to send out emails to schools of the winners informing them that their atheletes have won such a prestigous award?i think this way the event will gain greater publicity:)it just takes an email to the school:)
i think to get most these winners to come, redsports could actually email the schools of the winners and inform them.this way both the schools and award winners will gain recognition:)
will everyone one of the winners be getting a prize?
Hi. Yes, each winner in the poll will get a small token of appreciation courtesy of adidas.
