Singapore Polytechnic, Thursday, January 22, 2009 – Hwa Chong Institution swept aside Jurong West Secondary 2-0 (25-11, 25-7) in a B Division Boys West Zone Volleyball Championship match.
Hwa Chong managed to overcome Jurong West with relative ease through a stable defence and a consistent attack. Hwa Chong did not make many mistakes and forced Jurong West to crumble under the pressure.
Hwa Chong were the West Zone runners-up in 2007, but they face an uphill task in advancing to the National Championship after several of their stronger players graduated last year. Not only that, they face Bukit Panjang and Clementi Town, their biggest threats in the group.
Having only three seniors in the team and the other ranks filled by juniors, Hwa Chong will have to fight it out in the tough matches ahead.
thats harsh haha
of course HCI will get kicked out. They have never made it pass round 1 of National. Both their divisions was out in a flash.
hci got kicked out again -.-
Tell u guys wat….1st ly congrats to HCI for winning….i m a former jwss player, and from what i know, jwss their whole team is made up of 9 sec 4s and 3 sec 3s,out of which 5&1 respectively are in the 1st team…..i admit that after seeing my juniors train,i gave them no hope of qualifying….most of the players(those born in 1991&1992) graduated last year, and our current sec 5 players have not been coming to training regularly,so there’s no point in putting them in the team right????
like sec5 from other sch vs s3 from hci lor
jurong west’s senior is sec 5 or sec 4? hwa chong’s senior is sec 4… junior is sec 3
ps its jurong west
jurong only 1 senior player
