Delta Stadium, Sunday, Feburary 1, 2009 – The Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) scored a unique double after both their boys and girls team bagged gold in the U-21 Hockey League.
The boys team secured a hard-earned gold after beating championship favourite Jansenites by a narrow margin of 2-1. Jansenites had difficulty in neutralising the pressure brought to bear by SRC. But the youths of SRC also did not have an easy game either, who had to cope with the more experienced and skillful Jansenite players.
On the other hand, the SRC U-21 Girls team had a walk in the park as they thrashed the Jansenites Girls’ team 5-0. Team captain Tam Wanting secured the gold medal for the team after scoring a triple.
