Evergreen Secondary Field, Thursday, February 19, 2009 – St Joseph’s Institution clobbered Unity Secondary 67-0 in a National B Division Rugby Championship game last week.
Having lost 10-12 to Bedok Town Secondary in their previous game, SJI stunned the crowd with the unexpectedly large margin of victory.
Half the SJI team consists of Secondary 3 students.
“The SJI team is no pushover,” said captain Leonard Lim, in a message to powerhouses Raffles Institution, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and St Andrew’s Secondary.

To objective
SJI and Barker are in the cups.Btss is in the plates
the results are all wrong. peirce never played greendale or saints.
does dat mean ac(barker) out or btss out?
well ive been to quite afew of the AC and SA games and from SA there is jia jun who is very big and mobile for his size and their center who looks like he can run past any defence their winger is also exceptionally fast.
from AC ive seen their full back i think is very very quick and hard to catch.ive also been quite impressed with their back rows ability to turn over ball posession especially the big flanker on blind.also have a look at their malay center
to dent–
”ive seen AC play and ive noticed their strenghts to be in their back line..their fowards look quite small this year”
–the AC fowards anrt small..just look at their towering 2nd rowers and their big number 3.
Also, someone asked the question on who to look out for from the power houses????? Anyone knows?
Thanks for the update… Great job SJI…..
SJI beat acs(br) 8-0 today at SJI
Hello there
Any update on the matches played after 24Feb please? Thanks!!
So who r the players to keep a look out from this years powerhouses?
ive seen AC play and ive noticed their strenghts to be in their back line..
their fowards look quite small this year..except maby for their flankers and 8
To Dent-
Of coz they can win. They’re the best this year also from what i see and to Giraffe,BTSS so far won 2 matches and lost 2.They’re suppose to go against Unity today but it postponed due to the weather.
a quick analysis, judging by the score. btss looks quite inconsistent, there is potential but they are too inconsistent. AC/SA look pretty strong ( i’ve seen them play ) they both look pretty structured, SA looks a little mistake prone but talented non the less – i wouldn’t want to go up against that number 8 of theirs ( have you seen him? he is big and VERY mobile for a guy his size ). I am still not convinced that Raffles ( i have watched them too ) are the real deal yet. There is this thing about them that just don’t fit. i don’t know, i may be wrong about them.
juz to clarify…ri got a cap score against greenridge coz the latter did not hav enough players to continue the game. The score at half-time was 38-0 and by dat time 3 of greenridge players were out due to serious injuries…
uh, uncle les,
i think sji-evergreen score wrong.
it’s 20-7, not 20-10.
thanks. (:
les,was the results from the singapore rugby website? btw, SAS vs Pierce 48-0 and junyuan vs damai 45-3.they have updated it and GO SJI!!
Hi rugby fan
Someone’s been kindly sending us the info. Thanks for the update.
HEY DAMAI won BEDOK SOUTH 50++ to 7 NOT 27-7!! WHAT RUBBISH!!
If it’s wrong, just say so. No need to say it’s rubbish. Your mother didn’t teach you any manners?
And it’s Damai BEAT Bedok South. No such thing as Damai won Bedok South.
Unless you brought Bedok South players home as prizes.
Can ACSI win?
Their team is very talented but also quite young
ive also noticed alot of changes to their team sice the last tournament.
Hey. How did BTSS fare in the other matches?
hoho. let’s go, sji.
Congrats SJI and good luck for your next game against ACS Barker;)
